An alpha-male like no other: Damian Rule is an ultra-staid businessman who likes his life just so. He wears his hair cut short; he demands his business affairs be organized, and he insists that his women be impeccably groomed and conservative in both speech and appearance. When he meets Angie Ross for the first time, he sees a hot, beautiful, gothic mess. With her fishnet stockings and spiked leather cuffs, she’s wildly inappropriate for his long term needs. But for the short term? She’ll do just fine.

Review

This was my first novel by Lynda Chance but definitely not my last. It was so enjoyable to me. What’s not to love? Adorable goth heroine? Check. Over the top Alpha? Check. Three other siblings to possibly have books about them? Check. Hilarious at times? Check. Over the top at times? Check.Damian Rule helps run his family’s business along with his brothers. They’ve pulled that business out of the throes of bankruptcy after their father’s death and that was no small feat. The brothers protected their mother, sister and adopted sister from most of the financial disaster. In this story you really only hear about Damian being a part of it but the it does talk about it being a joint effort of the brothers. Damian gets his haircut at a salon that specializes in men and children cuts. He happened upon it by chance but keeps coming back because of a certain Goth stylist that he can’t seem to get out of his mind. I mean, he obsessively thinks about her. Thinks about what he wants to do to her sexually. If it wasn’t so alpha hot, it might have been creepy.

Angie Ross is a stylist and her Goth look is really just for show. She admits to being a poser where the Gothic lifestyle is concerned. She uses it as a method of reinventing herself. She likes the color black and alternative rock music and the clothes but that’s where it ends. She saves her money as best she can but personally she’s alone. She’s always noticed Damian Rule when he’s come in for his haircuts not only because of his attractiveness but because he looks so out of place here. He’s sophisticated, brooding, dangerous looking and totally out of his element. Fate steps in one day when a coworker, the one who usually cuts Damian’s hair, has to leave work because of a sick child.

This encounter throws them both off of their game. Damian is an aggressive man in his demeanor but this both excites and unnerves Angie. She cuts his hair and he leaves. Later, as she’s leaving work, he’s waiting for her in the parking lot under the guise of saying she messed up his haircut. She knows he’s full of shit but then he has a proposition for her. He needs her in all her Gothic glory to be an escort to one of his mother’s parties. You see, Damian knows he needs to marry and marry well. It what’s expected of a man in his position. But his mother has been trying to set him up with his so-called, adopted sister. This is maddening for him because he views her as a sister and nothing else. Taking Angie to the party will hopefully get his mother to notice that he’s not interested. He offers to pay Angie very well for her accompanying him to this get together. Angie does it because her co-worker could use the money for her sick child.

That’s the setup to the story but it by no means ends there. The relationship that develops is intense in emotions and sexuality. Damian might be the most alpha of any hero I’ve ever read and that’s saying something because I LOVE alpha males. He’s almost to the point of being an alpha hole but not quite. He’s dominant, pushy, stubborn and set in his ways. Angie is a nice opposite for him. She’s no pushover but all of his qualities rev her engine. If you want an extreme alpha male, a strong but gentle heroine, funny scenes that make you chuckle, filthy sex talk and sex scenes that rock your socks off, you’ve got to read this book. It really was that good.

Calum Alexander lived his life one way. With purpose and moderation. Everything was set in place and everything happened according to a plan.

That is, until his picture perfect engagement falls apart and his crazy brother Lucas gets him to agree to a night out. Calum is left to fend for himself when Lucas decides to bail, and “fend for himself” he will need to.

A vivacious and obviously young Livana Payne catches his attention and before he knows what’s going on, they end up talking. By the end of the night, Calum is on fire for the impish girl who’s managed to ignite an inferno within him.

Yes, she’s twelve years younger and the complete opposite of what he’d imagined in his life, but he hungers for her in a way that’s frightening. Drunk and surprisingly out of control, he’s dead set on his need to have her.

But the moment he accidentally lets it be known that he’s recently single, Livana is having none of it. There is no way she’s getting involved with a man who just broke up with his fiance.

No, they were going to have to wait. Calum’s need for her somehow kept growing. As the days went by and he got to know her more, Livana seemed to be stealing all of his sanity.

As much as she wants to wait it quickly becomes obvious to Calum that he’s losing his grip to the monster she’d awakened within him.

He’s about to lose control and when he does, he knows there’s going to be nothing gentle about what he’ll end up doing to her . . .

Review

“She was a cold, stuck up bitch anyway.”

Well, if that doesn’t get you attention…. The rest of the book will. What I loved about this was the lustful build up between Calum and Livana. It was so fucking hot it about melted my kindle!

I think Liv is definitely the aggressor in starting this relationship. Calum is attempting to reenter the dating scene and due to his recent breakup he has no flirting skills. Liv is throwing out signals but Calum is too sweet naive to take advantage.

signals

There is a phone sex scene that will melt your pantaloons right off. Sweet merciful LAWD! With that being said, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do… Take charge and fuck his brains out!

“For God’s sake, will you fuck me already?”

TB sookie takes eric

When Liv and Calum finally sealed the deal… it was like I got punched in the ovaries. D. E. L. I. C. I. O. U. S!!! Then when Calum’s alpha takes over… *shivers* WHEW! This is where my kindle about short circuited.

HOT

Ok, I must address Liv’s ass because it seems to be a major focal point. Calum has an ass fetish. He talks about Liv’s ass through the entire story. It’s not bad, but it is a little comical how much he loves dat ass. Hypnotized by the sway of her ass.

“Her ass was small but unbelievable plump and it swung side to side right in front of my face with each step she took. Just side to side. Side to side.”

Dat ass

So, I’m stuck between 3 and 4 stars. The writing is fantastic and I give it 5 stars, and I would expect nothing less from Blanco, but the story was a little lackluster for me. Let me try to explain my feelings… The story isn’t bad, but I keep wondering what was the purpose. What was the story trying to say? Where was the story trying to go? Hmm, was it the older guy (33yr), younger girl (21) fantasy? Is it that all the characters in the book have similar stories? Is it about Liv’s ass? What about how Calum recovers from a lifeless relationship? I just don’t know.

Overall, it was pretty good. The story flowed really well, the sex was scorching hot and there are some funny giggle moments. I really like how the story is told from Calum’s POV. You don’t see that very often and it’s a really nice change. I love Isabelle Blanco’s writing style. I would have preferred to have a plot but the sex was so good it more than made up for it. Now.. on to the next one.

About The Author

N. Isabelle Blanco was born in Queens, NY (USA). At the age of three, due to an odd fascination with studying her mother’s handwriting, she began to read and write. By the time she’d reached kindergarten, she had an extensive vocabulary and her obsession with words began to bleed into every aspect of her life.

An avid reader in her teens, her fascination with Japanese anime eventually led her to the universe of fan fiction, which became her on-again, off-again hobby for the next ten years. It was those fans who encouraged her to step beyond the fan fiction realm and try her talent in the publishing world.

Review

warning

“Word of warning. Some of these characters express ideas and use words that may make you uncomfortable.”

NBS Teaser

Seriously, proceed with caution. For those of you with heart conditions, a squeamish stomach, a strong aversion to blood and guts, dread the evil side of demonic paranormal, refuse to tolerate the idea of sexual taboo or feel it’s their mission in life to rid the world of literature that is not all unicorns and rainbows, then this book is not meant for your eyes or mind. Stop reading here!

For those of you who are willing to dip your toe into the dark side and skirt the edge of taboo, who don’t mind blood and guts and are okay with being grossed out and possibly turned on at the same time, then this book may be for you.

For those of you who are willing to dive in head first into the naughty, dirty, closet masturbation, bloody, horror erotica-tastic, with a lick of taboo while backstroking through a vat of evil and cum, and don’t mind the dark shadows in the corners, then this book is DEFINITELY for you.

cheese and wonder

Really I think my warning pretty much sums it up. But if you still want more… then let me try to fill you in without giving anything away.

Eighteen year old Gracie babysits for Kevin and Liz. Gracie seems like any normal girl her age on the outside but she has a dark and twisted side to her, especially after she meets Katie. Gracie has the hots for Kevin and will do whatever it takes to fulfill her lust for him. Gracie is only concerned about herself and what she wants.

bloodbath makeout2

Sex, blood, cum, incest and demons oh my! From the very beginning I was hooked. This is a well paced short story filled with cringing moments that makes me want to read with my eyes shut. This story is NOT for everyone. Again, read my warning. This is not my first horror and this is not my first erotica, however this is my first horror erotica. I wasn’t really sure what to expect and it turns out that I’m a twisted little fucker because I loved it!

bloodbath makeout3

There are a couple moments in here where it felt “porn” like to me. For example… “Shoot your cum on my face!” I shouted. “I want to feel your spunk running all over me!” Now, there is nothing wrong with porn and I do enjoy watching my fair share, but I just don’t see an 18 year old girl begging for this. Then on the flip side, she is demented, so it’s entirely possible.

Overall, I loved it! It was well written, the characters are believable and the story is fascinating. I don’t mind the taboo incest side of it. There is a copious amount of blood and I have read things in the past where the blood play was too much for me. However, this one I think is the bloodiest I’ve ever read and I didn’t have an issue. Yes, I did gag a couple of times, but I was ok with it. I hope there is a sequel to Grace and Blood and I can’t wait to read more from this author. I’m about to fangirl out all over Eric Keys.

Synopsis

He owns her—Every. Single. Breath. She just doesn’t want to admit it. To him, or herself. . .

You get hurt once; you assume that’s the norm. You see others suffer; you assume that’s the norm, too.

At least, that’s what Livana once did. One rough go-around was enough for her. After that, she kept it simple, no strings attached. It was just easier that way. Even necessary.

Until she went out one night and met Calum Alexander, a man whose intensity broke through each of her defenses, leaving her vulnerable.

Afraid to fall in love, she tries to keep some of her walls up around herself, even though Calum is determined not to let her.

Faced with a man that seems intent on possessing her, Liv knows it’s a mere matter of time before she no longer has a choice.

That is. . .until Calum’s own insecurities come to the fore, throwing their new, fragile relationship into a tailspin.

Will the feelings between them be strong enough to keep them together, or will their issues get in the way of what they had just started to build?

Excerpt

It occurred to me that we never really had angry sex before.
It was about to happen.
Right now.

Leaning down, he slanted his mouth over mine. I took it, opening my mouth for the aggressive thrust of his tongue. Our tongues tangled, breaths mingling. He kissed me with slow, hard laps, making his message clear.

He owned my body.
He knew it.

Did he think that gave him the right to hug his ex in front of me and that I’d have no say about it?

Hurt, I bit down on his lip.

Not breaking our kiss, he groaned and sucked on my tongue. His fingers tightened around my nipples. That hint of pain again.

Each sting merged with the sensations his tongue evoked, until I was drugged. Couldn’t think about
anything but him coming inside me.

Letting go of his wrists, I fisted his lapels. “God, just fuck me already. Please.” My tone was incoherent. Needy.

He wrenched my head back with a fist in my hair, attacking my neck with his tongue and teeth. “You want me to fuck you?” He gave me a harsh bite that made me yelp.

It wasn’t lost on what his words truly meant. “Yes. You.” Gasping for breath, I pressed as close to him as
possible. “Always you.”

He didn’t deserve that, but I had no choice but to give it to him.

A guttural sound left him. His hands came down on my ass, lifting me up against him. “I’ll give it to you. Every single, God damned thing.”

Christ, please tell me that meant what I thought it meant.

Bending at the knee, he scooped me up into his arms.

I’d become so lightheaded with want that it took me a few seconds to find my voice. When I finally did, it sounded raspier than I’d ever heard it. “Where are we going?”

The look in his eyes somehow turned hungrier.
Angrier.
Determined.

I couldn’t focus on the beautiful garden around us, or what direction he stormed in.

It was all about him. That austere expression, the hardened brow. His golden eyes fixated ahead and burning with that violent energy.

Oh, God. I loved him. I truly did. So fucking much, and suddenly, I couldn’t breathe through the emotion—could barely contain the words inside me.

Calum raced up another short flight of steps and lowered me down to my unsteady feet. He reached into his coat pocket for that passkey again and stepped up to me.

His free hand met my pussy through my dress, palming it, the action possessive. “We’re going somewhere private. You’re mine. No one sees you come but me.”

“Love is a messy thing. That hopelessly devoted, deep-in-your-bones kind of love we used to dream about when we were kids—it turns out that it’s hard. It aches. It takes time. Like a house that weathers the ages, it must be built, brick by brick.”

Snarky and ambitious Dawn Campbell almost had it all: a job producing lavish celebrity events, a hip downtown apartment, and a studmuffin of a boyfriend. But after losing all three in one fell swoop, Dawn finds herself resorting to the unimaginable: returning home to Bridgeport, an oceanside town where the air smells sweet but not much happens.

When a chance encounter brings her into the sturdy arms of John Brown, her childhood best friend, old feelings come rushing back. As the sparks fly, life finally starts to look up for Dawn…until she meets his wife.

Marguerite Brown has everything that Dawn doesn’t: a killer fashion sense, a breathtaking beauty, and a French accent—oh, and the kind of temperament that makes great white sharks seem docile in comparison. Determined to release John from an unhappy marriage, Dawn turns on the charm and makes a plan to finally win back her one-that-got-away.

But after Dawn stumbles upon a secret that, up until now, Marguerite has meticulously kept hidden, the two women are thrust into an unexpected friendship. An Imaginary House by the Sea follows Dawn’s journey towards self-rediscovery, finding purpose, and building a more complex, steadfast kind of love than she could have ever imagined.
Review

House by the sea casting

When I first started reading and found out that Dawn was sleeping with a married guy, I immediately started coming up with a list of people that will never read this book. Now that I’m done reading it… I would recommend it to every single one of those people. This is a story about best friends growing up and apart. It’s about life and life choices and forks in the road. It’s about family, friendship, love, loss and second chances.

holding hands

This story is told from Dawn’s POV. We get to experience her journey from a fallen city socialite to moving back home with family and rediscovering herself. We get to experience Dawn as a youth through her flashbacks of her and John’s budding friendship and feelings.
I thought these flashbacks were some sort of letter to John as an adult. I was so scared he was going to die or that Dawn was dead and John was reading her diary. But that’s not what it was 🙂

I was not a fan of Dawn’s at the beginning due to the homewrecker role she was cast in. However, as time went on and Dawn was on the road to rediscovering herself, she owned up to her mistakes and worked on improving herself and making her mark on the world.

animated drawing

Why only 4 stars? Well, for me, there was just a couple of small things really. Dawn’s flashbacks. They were perfect in every way and interesting to read and become more familiar with her feelings for John. But, it was awkward, for me, the way it was presented. Like Dawn was talking to John or writing him a letter or something along those lines. I guess I wanted it to have meaning as to why it was presented that say. Another thing that was a little off to me was Marguerite. She came off as this mega bitch and I wanted to punch her in her snobby face. Then all of the sudden her and Dawn share a moment and all is good and everyone seems to be okay with Marguerite. Dawn did make note of how she had misinterpreted Marguerite’s earlier comments and tone. So I guess that’s okay.

If you’re thinking about reading this then I would recommend getting a box of tissue, a bottle of wine, a cozy blanket and curl up with your favorite pet. I was captivated from the very beginning. The writing style is superb and Cecily Gates has a true talent for storytelling. I pretty much ugly cried from 47% all the way to the end. I kept trying to take breaks because I really don’t like crying but that was taking too long. So I gave up and read it straight through. So worth it…

lots of feelings

Overall, I really, really liked it. This is a little out of what I normally read and there is no sex at all. Lovers of Nicholas Sparks will really enjoy this. An Imaginary House by the Sea is an emotional rollercoaster so be prepared. It will make your heart hurt and feel good at the same time. Cecily Gates will kick you in the heart then nurse you back to a new and improved healthy heart. Highly recommend this for a rainy day and/or when you know you just need a good cry.

About HART ATTACK

Outside of Titan Group, there are few people that Roman Hart would die for. He’s a soldier, a protector, and he’s haunted that one of the people he should’ve been able to protect didn’t let him. That was years ago, and now a hardened heart and a cocky attitude are his impenetrable shields, until one woman—one challenge—drives him to distraction.

On the outside, Beth Tourne has it all. Luxury car, gorgeous condo, and a job partying with the rich and famous. It’s a plush CIA cover, but she wants more. Anything for an adrenaline rush that can override her guilty numbness and let her forget the tragedy she never saw coming.

Their scars make them perfect operatives. Their mirrored pasts give them deep, wounded reasons to stay alone. But the more they ignore the tension, the more vulnerable they become. Survival means trust. In one another, behind closed doors, and on the job. The only way they’re making it out alive is if they find peace while waging a war.

She closed her eyes and still saw his chiseled face. “Don’t be sweet to me, Roman.”

“I’m not.”

With a deep breath, she opened her eyes and focused on his lips then his eyes, wishing that he would act like a belligerent ass, not this guy whose words held such gravity. “Then don’t do whatever that was.”

“What? Touch you?” His fingers found a curl of hair, and he rubbed the strands. “Why not when it’s so much fun?”

Ah, fun. That was the problem. She could barely breathe. Holding herself up much longer would require significant and obvious assistance. Everything he did turned her into a puddle of goo. And here he was having a great time. La dee flippin’ da.

“I think I should go.” She jumped off the couch without looking at him. Her legs decided to work at the last second, saving her from a moronic tumble as she tripped while trying get away. “I don’t want to be here.”

The only way they’re making it out alive is if they find peace while waging a war.

really fucking awesome

Again! I don’t even know what to say right now. Gahh! I LOVE the Titians! If you’re reading this review and you haven’t read the series yet, then you need to stop reading and go buy the first Titan, Winter’s Heat, FREE on Amazon. You will not be disappointed. Although Garrison’s Creed… or Cash and Nicola’s story is my ALL TIME FAVORITE TITAN, this one is a very close 2nd. Beth and Roman are a little crazy and smokin’ hot.

fuck yes dance

Gushing time! Chemistry, characters, sex and story! Hart Attack is excellent on all levels. Roman and Beth have palpable chemistry. They both know it and can feel it but Beth is apprehensive in dealing with it. Neither one is looking for a commitment… but maybe if they can scratch an itch, then they can move on. Roman and Beth have both been through some serious trauma with people they love. This story works through the hurt with them and they both need to face their daemons.

The sex is SO HOT! Let me try to explain. Ahem. Okay… so you know that feeling you get when you’ve been crushing on a guy really hard and he all the sudden starts talking to you? Yes, it’s the butterflies in your tummy kind of feeling. Then, you know that feeling you get when your boyfriend/husband whispers dirty things in your ear and tells you exactly what he’s going to do with you as soon as he can get you naked? Then he takes you up against the wall in the most savage and porn quality way… Yes! It’s that belly roll feeling. Then finally, it’s like feeding cheese cake to a starving girl on her period. Extremely satisfying! Hot, fast and hard. YUM!

hot fast and hard

I cried. Dammit I cried… again! My heart was breaking for Beth and then I happy cried at the end.

I need a doughnut

I really don’t have anything else to say… except maybe READ THE BOOK!

Excerpt

Roman backed her against the wall, hands crawling up her arms, down her back. His body was too cut, too big. Too much to want to say no to. She arched into him, on him, her breaths far too stilted.

His fingers traced her jaw, his lips so close to hers. “You’ve changed your mind?”

No. Maybe. “Yes.” Thick air filled her lungs, rabid hunger made her lust drunk. The warmth of his almost-there kiss teased her without touching. “I changed my mind.”

He took a step back and bumped his fist against the wall over her shoulder as his head dropped back. “Fuck me.” He took a shaky breath in. “You’re drunk. I’m not. Let’s go before I become the asshole prick you think I am.”

Cameron O’Leary, a 4th generation firefighter turned arson investigator, thinks he’s the luckiest man in the world—after a year of sickness in the family, everyone’s finally on the mend, and his life can go back to its even keel. But even though Cameron has moved to Boston to be there for his family, some sort of live-in nurse is still necessary, given the demands of his job.

Erin Crosby is financing her master’s thesis in social work by acting as a home health care nurse. Working for Cameron seems like the perfect gig—low key, plenty of time to work on her thesis, and the patient is lovely. She might never have lived with a man before—she’s never found anyone she cared about that much, had barely even considered it—but Cameron is easy to live with, and an easy friendship blooms between them.

But it gets harder and harder for Cameron to keep his hands off of his charming employee—and for Erin to remember that she hasn’t really moved into Cameron’s life.

Review

I must confess that I had fallen out of touch with Robin Kaye’s books. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed them. For this, Robin Kaye, I humbly apologize. I enjoyed this novella so much and it brought me back to when I first started reading her.

Cam O’Leary is an arson investigator who had a very sick little girl. He stepped away from fire fighting into arson investigation so he could have better work hours. This would allow him to be home for her more, since he’s also a single father. He does have a nanny to help him out but she was called away on a family emergency. He now needs someone else to help him look after his daughter, Janie.

Erin Crosby needs some extra cash to help her continue getting her master’s degree. Helping the very attractive Cam O’Leary shouldn’t be a hardship. Erin has a huge heart and it shows throughout this novella. The question is whether these two people who need someone can keep their hands off of each other.

I was hoping this would be a series but I don’t think it is. That’s okay because I am going to get caught up on her backlist. If you haven’t discovered her writing you need to. Her books are very much about falling in love and they make you feel good.

Three. This is my number. It’s the exact sum of reasons I continue to go on.

One: To strengthen my body. Make it strong. Make it a machine. Make it so that what happened before can never, ever, happen again.

Two: To help others find their own strength so that what happened to me, what happened to my Olivia, doesn’t happen to them.

And three: My favorite—to find the bastards that took my life away and make them pay for what they did.

This is what my life is now. A dead man, inside a scarred body, living only for revenge.

Review

This novella that spawns the series packed quite a punch for me. This always surprises me when the book was a freebie. So, needless to say, I was excited when I finished it. Yes, it’s a cliffhanger of sorts but just that you know it continues.

You have a man, who is scarred inside and out. He and his girlfriend were victims of a random act of horrific violence that led to the girlfriend’s rape and death. He was left severely beaten and for dead. A part of him wishes he would’ve died also. Now, as he strengthens his body, he teaches women self defense so that they can defend themselves should someone try to hurt them.

You also have a woman, who was sexually active in high school and was raped by a love interest. That incident altered the course of her life. It has led to a string of one night stands in bars. Mostly, the bathroom, which makes me shudder. She has to control the trysts as she seeks her release.

This was a powerful start to what I hope will be a great series of novellas. The gritty scenes were emotional and sad. I can’t wait to get back into the series.
