Welcome to the Point

There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter.

Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. A criminal, a thug, and a brawler, he’s the master of bad choices, until one such choice landed him in prison for five years. Now Bax is out and looking for answers, and he doesn’t care what he has to do or who he has to hurt to get them. But there’s a new player in the game, and she’s much too innocent, much too soft…and standing directly in his way.

Dovie Pryce knows all about living a hard life and the tough choices that come with it. She’s always tried to be good, tried to help others, and tried not to let the darkness pull her down. But the streets are fighting back, things have gone from bad to worse, and the only person who can help her is the scariest, sexiest, most complicated ex-con The Point has ever produced.

Bax terrifies her, but it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize that some boys are just better when they’re bad.

Review

I read Rule a few years ago and didn’t get all the hype that the book was said to have had. This book started off different. I was hooked. I liked the heroine a lot. She was overlooked. Ordinary. Plain Jane. I liked the hero. Ex-con and loyal to his friends.

Best friend’s little sister trope? One of my favorites. That part I loved. I liked the heroine’s being so spunky. Her self image was gut wrenching at times. The hero watched over her unhappily but willingly. The more time they spent trying to locate her brother and figure out who set up the hero, they fell for each other.

About 70% in, it fell apart for me. I was sick of hearing about how almost everyone in town feared the hero. I got it, he was a badass, but seriously. It made the book just okay from that point on. I did like it better than Rule and it was way hotter too. Will I go on in the series? Probably not.

Unfortunately some Torog aliens also take notice, sending her life spiraling out of control and into Ian’s arms. Review

I loved this so much! I’ve been getting burnt out on my reading and I needed a good story to break me out of it. THIS is that story! Fantastic read!

description

So… here I am wanting to read something different and perfectly different is exactly what I got. I got to keep the allure of romance, picked up some action and adventure with a kickass story. If you can’t tell by now, I absolutely loved this. I was super lucky to meet this author, Sabine Priestley, at the Multi-Genre Book Signing in Orlando Florida this past May. I chatted with her about sci-fi romance and how I wish I could find more books in that genre. Well, I picked up her Alien Attachments and I was NOT disappointed at all!

description

I love this and it was a hard one to put down. I couldn’t stop thinking about when I was forced to put it down and adult for the day. I thought about it all day at work, all night while at home and just couldn’t get it out of my head. Actually, I could read the book again, right now because I loved it that much. I’m sure I can find something new every time I read it.

The world building, character development and threading of the story are superb. I was rewarded with action and adventure and I never wanted it to end. I mentioned my book slump earlier… and I was really happy to discover that the sex was light but very meaningful. Also, it’s not your typical sex either. In my opinion, it was on another level… deeper connection due to the their psi. It wasn’t thrown in the story right off the bat either. I got to know the world and characters a bit before I jumped into bed with them.

“This gets more and more like a cheesy fantasy flick every day. We’re on a quest to somehow mend a magic portal, and blocking our way are nasty, smelly, alien creatures. I assume we have a plan?”

Dani, the heroine is a total badass! She isn’t a whinny baby! She is a smart, tough, doesn’t take shit from anyone, she stands up for herself and she’s a fighter. Literally (think Ronda Rouse). I also really love that just because she is fated to mate with someone, she doesn’t just fall into the arms of her intended. Nope, she makes that guy work for it and he should. Dani isn’t perfect and that makes her more relatable. Although she is a fighter, she is far from graceful. She is a klutz.

description

Ian is the alpha alien who is crushing on Dani pretty hard. BUT… she is human and on his planet, mating/bonding with a human is forbidden. So, to keep Dani away, he acts like a bag of dicks! He is so mean to her and pushes her so far away that she meets Balastar. I’m going to stop right there on that topic. You’ll have to read to book to see what I’m talking about.

“At times it seemed his desire for her was matched only by his anger at her. Completely irrational.”

I do have to quickly mention Marco. I can’t wait to read more about him. His doesn’t get a lot of page time in this book but he is funny. There is this one part that cracks me up! You’ll know what I’m talking about when you hit that part.

“I’m growing it back, baby! You didn’t think a little Torog laser treatment would stop me, did you?” He held the bulb up to her face.

description

There are only a couple things I can pick at… there are a few parts that made me cross eyed for a minute due to some of the lengthy conversations about portals and time travel. It’s not so lengthy that it takes away from the story, but I did find my mind wandering a bit and had to reread a little bit. Then there is Armond… what he did was not okay and I don’t understand how that was just glossed over. Now… I almost never comment on misspelled words or grammar. I have no room to talk… but there are a few words that are spelled correctly, but used in the wrong sentence. For example though should have been through and breath should have been breathe. Anyway, it only happened a few times and didn’t take away from the story at all.

Overall, I fracking loved this book and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Alien Attachments had everything I needed right now. Great story, characters, romance, connection, action and adventure.

Review

I had kept seeing this author’s name pop up on my Goodreads and everyone seemed to love the books. I thought about reading them for a while and took a chance. It seemed to me from reading some reviews, that this series is about an MC. It wasn’t. The guys were ex-military and helped abused women start new lives. They were in an MC but not one percenters. That was my fault for not researching more clearly.

What I liked:

The suspense was okay.

The heroine raising her niece during her brother’s deployment.

The heroine’s brother was a good, single daddy.

What I didn’t like:

The timing was off.

The writing was choppy.

You found out plot twists as an afterthought.

It was okay for me but honestly, my dislikes outweighed the likes for the book. I wanted an outlaw MC book and didn’t get one. Research your books people.

Hawk, the muscled, tatted, badass Vice President of the Insurgents Motorcycle Club, sees women as bed warmers, nothing more. He never stays with the same woman, and although there are plenty of women who want to be his old lady, he wants none of that.

He doesn’t date.
He doesn’t let chicks ride on the back of his bike.
He doesn’t fall in love.

And that suits him just fine until he meets her whose eyes light a fire in him. Problem is she’s not so easy to get into his bed. Hawk wants her. And when Hawk wants something he takes it.

Cara Minelli doesn’t want to go to the biker bar, but her friend talks her into it. Swearing off men since she caught her fiancé cheating on her right before her wedding, she has buried herself in her career not wanting a man in her life. Until she sees him. He is sexy, rough, crude, and oh so very wrong for her. So why can’t she stop thinking of all the nasty things he’ll do to her if she relents and lets him in her bed?

Then a vicious killer who has been strangling women in the area focuses on Cara. Police think bikers are involved. Can Cara set aside her trust issues and let Hawk into her life?

Hawk sees it as his job to protect what is his…and Cara is very much his even if she doesn’t know it yet. Cara keeps her heart guarded, but when danger comes calling, their lives collide. Hawk will stop at nothing to keep Cara safe and make her “Property of Hawk”.

Review

Hawk is the VP of the Insurgents MC. He’s everything you’d expect from a VP. He’s intense, sexy dangerous and a slut. He likes women and sex. A lot. He has a filthy mouth, which as I’ve said before, I love. He sees a curvy woman in a bar and knows he has to have her.

Cara is an attorney. She’s not like the rest of her family. She’s a defense attorney and her family is in corporate law. She even has a cousin that’s a judge. So needless to say, they don’t approve of Cara’s field of law that she practices. Despite running into hot ass biker man and liking what she saw, she puts him out of her mind. When that same biker shows up at her office asking for her help, she starts down a path of hot sex, danger and running for her life.

I really liked this one. The suspense of who done it was good. A little predictable with the result but still good. This was my first book by this author but it won’t be my last.

In fact, Lance isn’t quite sure that can last the whole year before his shuttle pod arrives, but when a mysterious visitor appears at Lance’s terraforming station, he quickly realizes that he might not be so alone after all.

Soon enough, Lance becomes close with this mysterious new astronaut, a velociraptor. Together, they form an unlikely duo, which quickly begins to cross the boundaries of friendship into something much, much more sensual.

It’s not gay if it’s a man and a dinosaur, is it?

This erotic tale is 4,100 words of sizzling human on gay dinosaur action, including anal, blowjobs, rough sex, and space raptor love.

Review

A touch late, but here’s the latest for TingleFest 2016!

Nice graphic, eh?

Ah, I actually remember reading this for research when I was getting ready to launch my own erotica career! This, among many other erotica shorts (which I honestly don’t remember–this was the only memorable one), helped to shape my writing. Now, I found out I can’t do humor erotica like Dr. Chuck Tingle. There’s simply no one but the master. As one might argue Virginia Wade started the monster erotica trend (she’s certainly the most famous of the monster erotica indie authors), Chuck Tingle has taken that and ran with it. With scissors. And an eternal love for gay ass.

We start out with a nameless astronaut on Outpost Zorbus. I say nameless because he doesn’t have a name for quite a while. It actually starts out with two astronauts (Pike being the other one) talking and going about their business, rather normally. You would actually think they would end up being lovers, but no! Not in a Tingleverse book. Pike is actually going home, leaving our nameless astronaut here by himself.

Not for long! As he’s outside, he sees another astronaut! Shocked and surprised, when our nameless astronaut goes back to his base, he hears a knocking on the hatch door! Here, we finally learn our astronaut’s name is Lance Tanner as he lets the other astronaut in… only to find out he is a velociraptor!

The raptor’s name is Orion. Over the next few days they start to hang out and get to know each other. It’s actually quite sweet to read. The subject of sex comes up, and Orion admits he’s never had sex with a human for fear of crushing a human female. Lance brings up the subject of gay sex… and Orion agrees, thinking he “might be into that”. This leads to the best line in the book:

“I mean, it’s not gay if it’s a dude raptor and a dude human, right?” I ask.

What follows is actually a pretty standard sex scene… other than one partner is a raptor. It’s weird reading an early Chuck Tingle book because it’s actually.. not so WTF and more just hot dino sex. I’m of the opinion one doesn’t read Chuck Tingle for the erotica, but for the humor. However, this is when the author was still finding his feet. As it is, it’s a solid introduction to the Tingleverse, a sweet and somewhat hot gay dino/dude love scene, and a great parallel to Chuck’s later works which go off the chart crazy. I would give this 7 “Totally Not Gay” Astronauts out of 10.

They call him the Beast—a hardened mercenary whose heart seems as cold as his icy blue gaze. They do not know his true name: Niall Braewick, son of the Laird of Kincaid. It has been years since he escaped into the forest the night his father was murdered. Now he has returned, ablaze with a vengeful hunger. He will gain the MacClaren chief’s trust, gather his clan, and take back his lands. And take the MacClaren’s daughter as well…

Though he pulled her from the river, saving her life, Elspeth has been warned to keep her distance from her father’s hired warrior. He is a barbarian—a shame, as he is far more compelling than the lechers and fools competing for her dowry. Little does she know that, like the castle itself, she is a prize Niall intends to claim…but will he extract blood for blood and possess what is his, or will his enemy’s beautiful, innocent daughter tempt him to forsake his dream of conquest?

Review

Niall Braewick is a man on a mission and nothing will deter him. He is the heir to a fallen clan. His parents murdered, his two brothers, missing or dead. He has plotted his revenge carefully. He’s formed his own army to take back what was his. Since his youth, he’s honed his skills as a fighter, lived as a pauper and became the warrior known as the Beast.

Elspeth MacClaren is the eldest daughter of the Laird now ruling Niall’s former lands. She knows of the Kincaids but not truly how they lost their rule. She’s ready to marry, as she knows she has to. She’s responsible to make a good match to strengthen her clan. When she sees her father’s hired sword, a spark goes off. She’s drawn to him despite knowing it can lead nowhere.

This was a good book to start a new Scottish Highlander romance series. I enjoyed it. I loved the main characters, the suspense elements and the sex was good. It was almost perfect. I hated Elspeth’s stepmother. Despite her change of heart toward the end of the book, she was beyond redemption to me. I look forward to the next book in the series.

But things immediately get off to a rocky start when Domald tells another journalist that he’s fired, and then proceeds to throw him off of the plane mid-flight. Not surprisingly, the candidate’s approval ratings go through the roof.

Soon enough, things are going from bad to worse when Pibbles receives some top secret information about the real Domald Tromp, a man who may or may not actually be the Loch Ness Monster, and who may or may not be craving a lustful encounter within Pibbles’ tight butthole.

This erotic tale is 5,000 words of sizzling human on gay politican action, including anal, blowjobs, rough sex, and Domald Loch Ness Tromps love.

Review

This is the second in my TINGLEFEST 2016 series! Here, let me whip out the graphic again.

There! TingleFest 2016 continues with President Domald Loch Ness Tromp Pounds America’s Butt, which is very topical! This is obviously a stand in for a presidential candidate… I don’t think I need to say which one. If I do, then you really need to turn on a television or a computer.

We start out with Pibbles Pooch, a small up and coming journalist for a small paper who observes that all of the journalists around him are both war weary, and like sharks at the same time. The analogy is very apt. He writes that everyone around him is jaded, but that any small action by either candidate during the election season is apt to send them into a tizzy of activity. This, I think, is a remarkably astute observation on Dr. Tingle’s part. It does seem that our journalists are locked into this sort of activity in the name of ratings, and pushing particular agendas for their paper and/or television station.

Anyway, as they fly with Domald Tromp on his HUGE jet plane (Keith, is that you?), he starts taking questions… and I have to say, Dr. Tingle caught that certain political candidate’s words and tone perfectly. It was eerie reading it. Domald goes on to say several things, and while I rarely quote from books, I have to quote this:

“Speaking of immigration, I was wondering if you had anything you’d like to say about the dinosaurs who are upset about your racist comments regarding them crossing the border into America,” Barno suddenly interjects.

“Well, first of all I was talking about illegal dinosaurs, not legal dinosaurs,” Tromp explains. “If you were paying attention you’d know that, but you know what? I think you’re kind of a third rate journalist for asking that question. That’s what I think.”

Domald Tromp says he can do anything. To prove it, he fires Barno on the spot and has the stewardesses throw him out of the plane.

Immediately, Barno starts to struggle against the stewardesses, but it is already too late. There is a wild yell as my friend is thrown from the airplane, whipping out into the vast blue sky and then plummeting down through the clouds behind us as he tumbles end over end.

The door slams shut, leaving the room in total silence.

“That’s what I think of lightweight journalists. I think that’s fair,” says Domald Tromp.

Yup. Wow. Damn. It would be funny if I couldn’t see that happening with crystal clear clarity in our world and not just the Tingleverse.

Shaken up, our young journalist tries to relax while at the rally (where Domald promises everyone in America a steak dinner), but Barno’s boss calls him saying he’s got some revealing information on Domald Tromp! Alone in his room on the jet plane, our young journalist waits for the email and it’s a doozy… Domald Tromp was born not in America, but in Scotland and it turns out his name is Domald Loch Ness Tromp! AND he’s a dinosaur! Not JUST a dinosaur but the Loch Ness monster! Other than his Scotland roots, I’m just not sure why he hides the fact he’s a dinosaur. He could be the first dinosaur president of the United States!

I also imagine this is what he looks like:

As soon as Pibbles gets the email, he’s called into Domald’s office. There, he can see it. Finally he can see it! And once he does, he’s possessed by a strange gay lust (Pibbles’ words!) for the Jurassic beast. Domald, smitten with Pibbles’ good looks, tells Pibbles his plan for America.

“I’m going to tell it like it is,” the creature explains, “because that’s just the way I do thing. I love America, I really do. In fact, I love America so much that I want to pound it in the butt.”

“In the butt?” I ask.

“Yes,” Domald nods, “and if I’m going to start the process of pounding America in the butt, I’d like to start with you. With your beautiful, muscular rump.”

Does that pounding come with the steak dinner he promised? Or is it BECAUSE of the steak dinner he feels the need to pound America in the butt?

After that, of course, is the sexy part, which is really hysterical to read. I couldn’t do it justice here, but I highly recommend it. Afterwards, we find out the American people voted against him. I imagine it was kind of like this:

I have to say… this short is awesome. Dr. Tingle captures Don… er Domald’s personality exactly, and it’s a bit of a horrifying read. Still funny, but horrifying at the same time. He pretty much nails the political climate for the Republican party on the head, and offers up his own theories as to why Domald is popular. It’s weird, contemporary, on point, funny, a bit sexy, and extremely fun to read. There IS a bonus Tingler at the end, but I am running out of time this week, so you will have to discover that sexy funny tale on your own! I give this short 10 out of 10 illegal dinosaurs!

This is the first book by this author that I have read. I love MC romance, so I thought what the heck. It was an okay read. Nothing bad but not great either. I wanted to like it more than I did.

Dragon is the President of the Savage Brothers MC. Even though the MC still has some nefarious dealings, it’s almost a legal MC. Thank God they had to get dark in the story or I probably would’ve lost my shit.

Nicole was a decent heroine but not overly memorable. I liked that she was a little more full figured than most romance heroines. I guess that I never felt the connection between she and Dragon. Because of that, I never believed in the insta-love vibe of the story.
