Live hard, f*ck harder and follow only their own rules. Those are the cornerstones the six men of the Haven Brotherhood live and bleed by, refusing to conform to society’s expectations, taking what they want and always watching each other’s backs.

A self-made man with his fingers in a variety of successful businesses, Jace Kennedy lives for the challenge and he always gets what he wants. From the start, he sees Vivienne Moore’s hidden wild side and knows she’s his perfect match, if only he can break it free. He will have her. One way or another.

Vivienne’s determined to ditch the rough lifestyle she grew up in, even if that means hiding her true self behind a bland socialite veneer. Dragging her party-hound sister out of a club was not how she wanted to ring in the New Year, but Viv knows the drill. Get in, get her sister and get back to the safe, stable life she’s built for herself as fast as humanly possible. But Viv’s plans are derailed when she finds herself crashing into the club’s clearly badass and dangerously sexy owner.

Jace is everything Vivienne swore she never wanted, but the more time she spends with him, the more she starts to see that he loves just as fiercely as he fights. He can walk society’s walk and talk society’s talk, but when he wants something, he finds a way to get it. He’s proud of who he is and where he came from, and he’ll be damned if he lets Vivienne go before showing her the safest place of all is in the arms of a dangerous man.

Review

This was my first book by this author. I liked a lot about it and had an issue with part of it also.

What I liked:

Characters primary and secondary both.

Brotherhood-camaraderie

Suspense-enough to keep it interesting

Sex scenes- nice and graphic

What I didn’t like:

It seems the author couldn’t decide if this was a group of ex-military buddies or an MC

This wasn’t an MC like I thought

It was a good book that I enjoyed and may go on to read the rest of the series as it releases.

When Roxy Doucette meets the all too handsome, Knox Harrington, sparks fly. He’s the new assistant to the club’s attorney. However, Christopher “Outlaw” Caldwell, the club’s president, is suspicious of Knox’s true reasons for being there. Something about Knox just rubs Outlaw the wrong way, therefore, he asks Roxy to get Knox into bed for some “pillow talk”. At first, she’s outraged at Outlaw’s proposal, but accepts that he might be right and the club could be in jeopardy. She agrees to “date” Knox and the war of wills begin.
Born in wealth and privilege, Knox Harrington is a former police officer who has little regard for biker clubs. In particular, the Death Dwellers, and ESPECIALLY the president. Now a private investigator, Knox is working on behalf of his uncle to bring Outlaw and the Dwellers down. The club members’ nefarious deeds warrant their destruction. Knox intends to achieve that by any means possible.
When he meets the beautiful, formidable Roxy, there’s instant attraction between them. However, he sees an opportunity to use her to ferret information about the club. He’s over-the-top-arrogant, believing the ignorance and stupidity of Outlaw will ultimately be the club’s downfall. Knox hasn’t a clue that Roxy is on to him. She’s also attracted to him.
Aside from the safety of the club, Roxy’s in it for the benefits. She has a new lease on life after surviving cancer. Besides Knox’s low-down behavior, she’s a 44-year-old, mother of four children and Knox is ten years younger than she is. However, she can’t resist the challenge when Knox lets it be known that he’s the sharpest tool in the shed. He sure the hell is a tool. The foolish kind and Roxy is determined to teach him a lesson or two.
Let the games begin.

Review

I enjoyed this novel like I always enjoy a Kathryn Kelly penned novel. All the characters that I love or love to hate were present and accounted for. I’ve loved Roxy since she steamrolled into the series. She seemed to bring balance to the club and the clubhouse. The men respected her and the women needed her. None more so than Kendall, whose need for a mother/friend never fails to be heart wrenching to read about.

My only complaint is that I never liked Knox or felt any connection between he and Roxy. It never felt natural and it never rang true. I was glad Roxy got an HEA, I just didn’t care for who he was. Other than that, I loved it. It had suspense, humor and hot sex. I’m so sad that this series appears to be coming to an end. It was a great series to lose yourself in. Rumor has it, maybe she’ll write about the kids of the MC. If she does, I’m so there. Until then then, a piece of my heart lies in Hortensia.

The ice is a cold mistress. As the league’s most eligible goalie, Max Fournier has access to his fair share of willing puck bunnies, but right now he’s more interested in bringing home another championship than a one-night stand. A romantic at heart, Max believes in love; he’s just not great at relationships. So when he finally meets a nice girl who’s not blinded by his celebrity, he’s feeling the heat—and the pressure to save her from herself.

Between working two jobs and raising her sister’s kids, Julianne Bradley doesn’t have time for sports—or men. All she knows about Max is that he’s the sexiest customer to ever grace her gas-station counter. And he sees past her tired eyes and makes Jules yearn for things she can’t have: a glamorous fling, a passionate lover, and the time to enjoy both. Max makes her feel like Cinderella, even though Jules has enough baggage to crush a glass slipper. Luckily, he’s no prince—only a fierce competitor determined to win her heart.

Review

I absolutely adored this book. I’m an avid reader of the series and this is a great installment to it.

Jules has had it rough for a while now. She just lost her sister to cancer, became guardian to her two nephews and one niece. She works two jobs to just make ends meet barely. She just needs a break. What she doesn’t need is to meet a guy and all that entails.

Max is the goalie for the Cold Fury. He’s a good guy. He works hard, family is important to him, he’s sick of puck bunnies and he’s ready to make a change. His stop, one evening, at a convenience store changes his whole life.

I love both of these characters. They were made for each other. Despite people’s objections to their being together, they persevere. They learn that slow and steady wins the race and that family comes in a lot of different forms.

It started out like any other morning on the train.
Until I became mesmerized by the guy sitting across the aisle.
He was barking at someone on his phone like he ruled the world.
Who did the stuck-up suit think he was…God?
Actually, he looked like a God. That was about it.
When his stop came, he got up suddenly and left. So suddenly, he dropped his phone on the way out.
I might have picked it up.
I might have gone through all of his photos and called some of the numbers.
I might have held onto the mystery man’s phone for days―until I finally conjured up the courage to return it.
When I traipsed my ass across town to his fancy company, he refused to see me.
So, I left the phone on the empty desk outside the arrogant jerk’s office.
I might have also left behind a dirty picture on it first though.
I didn’t expect him to text back.
I didn’t expect our exchanges to be hot as hell.
I didn’t expect to fall for him―all before we even met.
The two of us couldn’t have been any more different.
Yet, you know what they say about opposites.
When we finally came face to face, we found out opposites sometimes do more than attract―we consumed each other.
Nothing could have prepared me for the ride he took me on. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for where I’d wind up when the ride was over.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

I have only read one other book by Vi Keeland and I liked it. I have never read a book by Penelope Ward. I am big fans of both authors after this book. You got great humor in this story. You also got and great heroine and an awesome hero. He was a straight up ass through a lot of the book. When he fell for the heroine though, oh boy, he became swoon worthy.

I really liked both authors’ voices. The characters felt real and you could relate to them. The emotions that they had were emotions we as readers could have. The issues that they dealt with were issues that real people could have to deal with. I really enjoyed the story and look forward to checking out the backlists of both of these great authors.

Bowtie…’till I DIE.

Samuel Clearwater, A.K.A Preppy, likes bowties, pancakes, suspenders, good friends, good times, good drugs, and a good f*ck.

He’s worked his way out from beneath a hellish childhood and is living the life he’s always imagined for himself. When he meets a girl, a junkie on the verge of ending it all, he’s torn between his feelings for her and the crippling fear that she could be the one to end the life he loves.

Andrea ‘Dre’ Capulet is strung out and tired.

Tired of living for her next fix. Tired of doing things that make her stomach turn. Tired of looking in the mirror at the reflection of the person she’s become. Just when she decides to end it all, she meets a man who will change the course of both their lives forever.

And their deaths.

For most people, death is the end of their story.
For Preppy and Dre, it was only the beginning…

Review

Preppy, Preppy, Preppy. What an absolute mess of a man! He wasn’t as dark as I thought he’d be. That being said, he was pretty damn dark. His humor is always perfectly timed and flawlessly delivered. I laughed quite a bit while reading this book.

Dre was hard for me to love. I don’t have a lot of patience for drug and alcohol addicts. I know its a flaw of mine but I’m being honest. The robbing of her Grandma? Unforgivable. She was almost beyond redemption for me.

If I had to have another complaint, I wish there would’ve been more present day story but I know that’s what part 2 will deal with.Attractive woman reading a book

Becca could be his worst enemy: an assassin sent to kill him, a call girl sent to distract him, or the worst scenario of all–a clueless innocent. Anyway he looks at it, she’s trouble: beautiful, bare, dripping-wet trouble. The kind he can’t resist.

She’s not scared. After one taste of his hot mouth, Becca soon discovers just how fearless she can be. She’ll need it, too–because things are about to explode on Frakes Island, launching Becca and Nick into danger they could never have imagined–and a passion that could destroy them both.

Review

This is an oldie but goodie for me. I read it at the beginning of my romance stage, so this author will always have a special place in my heart.

Nick is an ex-Fed trying to live down a string of professional bad calls. They eat away eat him terribly. He’s a man whore and has never had a meaningful relationship. When he’s undercover, he runs into a beautiful woman who fastly becomes his whole entire world.

Becca is a self admitted good girl. She doesn’t rock the boat at all. After her ex’s betrayal, she tries to take a small trip to get away from it all. She stumbles into the middle of an undercover situation that’s truly monstrous. The only person she can trust is a man who may be every bit as bad as the monsters.

Shannon McKenna was at the top of her game when this series first started. She went off the deep end with the mind control drugs and I stopped reading her. If you love humor, suspense, blistering sex scenes and filthy mouthed alpha males, read McKenna. She knows how to get it done.

All Ryker Dennison wanted was to become President of the Roaming Devil’s Motorcycle Club. It would be his legacy. His grandfather and father had both held the title and he was the next in line.

Enter Ella Hawkins. He had known her since they were fifteen and had tried to push her memory away. Their troublesome past included her father arresting him, which was not something he could easily forget. But when she came to him, pleading for his help to save the one man he despised from a rival motorcycle gang, he found himself agreeing to help her, thus breaking the number one rule of the MC.

Ryker soon finds himself with a major dilemma. Women weren’t part of the club life and bringing Ella into his world would only mean putting her in danger. With his father trying to push Ella away from him for his own benefit, her father constantly trying to arrest him, and his own desire for her getting in the way of his club life, he finds himself going against everything to be with the woman he loved. Will breaking the rules land him in the ultimate position to have everything he ever wanted? Or will his risky move cost him everything, including the woman of his dreams?

I always enjoy finding a new author to read. It’s a rare thing for me nowadays. Tried and true when I have to spend my money. I also enjoy finding a new MC romance series. Bonus is, new series and new author.

Ryker is slated to take the gavel and be the President of the Roaming Devils MC after his father steps down or dies. He’s ready. The club has been his way of life for as long as he can remember. His vision for the MC is different from his father’s. He knows there will be resistance but he’s up for the challenge.

Ella is a doctor and the daughter of a police officer that is set on taking down Ryker’s club. Ella went to high school with Ryker, knows what the MC is about and goes to Ryker for help. This starts a series of events that will have light suspense fans cheering.

Good start to a new series and I’m really looking forward to the next one. Will it be Superman or Vampire?

SPOILER WARNING

This book was the most wonderful love story that I have ever read. It was precious and innocent. Love in it’s most simple and pure form. A boy and a girl who became best friends at 5, soulmates at 8 and had the love of a lifetime at 15. I’m still sitting here with tears in my eyes and a goofy smile on my face.

Poppy was amazing. Her outlook on life was awe-inspiring. Her faith in God and her acceptance of what lay ahead for her, made me tear up over and over. She was sweet and kind. Never felt sorry for herself and life dealt her a shit ass hand. She is my most favorite heroine that I’ve ever read about.

Rune. The hero. There were several times that I wanted to shake him but I understood his anger. It was watching him process and come to terms with it that was an emotional journey. Poppy and her love made him a better person. Everyone should be loved the way Rune loved Poppy.

Love intense romances? Don’t mind a little tears with yours? If so, read this book. You will cry but you will never read a love story that’s as beautiful as this one.

Review

I love Olivia Cunning’s books. She writes rock stars great. Her stories suck you in and you become obsessed. I liked Trey, Ethan and Reagan’s story. I thought that they could totally be a triad. Not all authors can truly write a triad. I can only think of three.

What I liked:

Ethan’s mom.

Trey’s parents.

Dare.

Sinners and Exodus End members being in the story.

What I didn’t like:

Ethan was rough with Trey sexually.

The constant insecurities by all three characters.

I felt that Ethan and Reagan had some self-loathing issues.

I really don’t think we needed another story about these three.
