Recipe: 1 Porn Star, 1 Step Sister, 1 Wealthy Father, 1 Flighty Stepmother

Take one trust fund baby porn star, a stepsister in need of money, and a wealthy father the flighty stepmother stole from. Add in a lot of sex, a huge dose of tragedy, a load of betrayal, a pinch of revenge and a heap of arrogance. Mix them together and shake shit up for a few weeks.

The result?

One VERY Dirty Boy.

Review

Max is a porn star. He is also part owner for the studio he works for. In case, you are unaware, he’s a first class prick. Plain and simple. No way to sugar coat it. He is a vile and wretched individual.

Story is a young woman who has had a history of bad luck. Not just that, her mother is the stuff nightmares are made of. What kind of mother tells her daughter to strip, look for a sugar daddy or go into porn?! She also took out credit in Story’s name and didn’t pay the bills. Story is sweet, long suffering and unfortunately desperate.

This was the beginning of a possible new series for Kathryn Kelly, I think. I liked it but I didn’t love it. It read more like erotica than erotic romance to me. I love an alpha male who can be an alpha hole but Max was just cruel. I’ll continue on with series if that’s the direction Kathryn goes. I want Kellan’s book.

The right love is worth the wait.

Sierra
Seven years have passed since I fell for Boone West. The brooding bad boy. We were friends, even when I secretly wanted more, but I settled for what he offered. After he left Wyoming–and me–I grew up. Moved on. Or so I believed until he blew back into my life with the scorching force of an Arizona desert wind.

I’m not that innocent sixteen-year-old girl anymore–I’m a businesswoman who swore never to settle again. But this older, wiser, hotter version of Boone unsettles me. How am I supposed to resist his megawatt smile and his built-army-strong body? Especially when he’s inserting himself into every aspect of my life? Now he’s determined to prove he can offer me everything that he couldn’t before–and he’s the only man that can fix the heart that he broke.

Boone
Joining the army? Best decision I ever made. Even though it meant I had to leave her behind. Sierra McKay. The wide-eyed beauty, who saw more in me than I saw in myself. I didn’t dare offer her anything more than friendship, because one kiss, one touch and I wouldn’t have had the guts to go.

I’ve worked hard to become the man I am. I have a career. A purpose. After a chance encounter with the one woman I never forgot–I’m not leaving anything else to chance. Now that I’ve chased her across three states, I’m ready to demonstrate that the passion we couldn’t act on before burns hotter than ever between us. And I’ll use every weapon in my arsenal to show Sierra McKay that she’s always been mine.

Review

I am so glad that I got to read this book! I love all things McKay and West! I loved the series that spawned this one. I cried after reading Cowboy Take Me Away. I was devastated that the series was over! I needed Boone and Sierra’s book.

Boone is a West. Sierra is a McKay. Their families are related but not these two particular people. The author put this story on a slow simmer and made us wait. As a reader of the first series, you don’t really know a lot about the Wests. It’s still my hope that the author will finish the West saga. This was a sweet love story and has whetted my appetite for the next book.

Lorelei James is a wonderfully talented author. She evokes such an emotional response from her readers. Whether she’s writing about ranching, war injuries, health issues or committed triads, she sucks you into her stories. Thank you Ms. James for bringing me back to the family that I love and have missed terribly.

I found Killian drunk and sprawled out on my lawn like some lost prince. With the face of a god and the arrogance to match, the pest won’t leave. Sexy, charming, and just a little bit dirty, he’s slowly wearing me down, making me crave more.

He could be mine if I dare to claim him. Problem is, the world thinks he’s theirs. How do you keep an idol when everyone is intent on taking him away?

Killian

As lead singer for the biggest rock band in the world, I lived a life of dreams. It all fell apart with one fateful decision. Now everything is in shambles.

Until Liberty. She’s grouchy, a recluse—and kind of cute. Scratch that. When I get my hands on her, she is scorching hot and more addictive than all the fans who’ve screamed my name.

The world is clamoring for me to get back on stage, but I’m not willing to leave her. I’ve got to find a way to coax the hermit from her shell and keep her with me. Because, with Libby, everything has changed. Everything.

Review

I really enjoyed this first book in Callihan’s new series. I love rock star romances. What woman hasn’t crushed on a rock star? I sure have. The author did a great job with her characters, both primary and secondary.

You have a band member struggling with his musical desire while trying to deal with another band mate’s attempted suicide. His battle with his future and the future of the band. He disappears from that life. Takes a break in a small town.

You also have a woman who’s living half a life after the death of her parents. When the rock star literally crashes into her life, he’s everything she abhors.

Will he ever find his way back to music? Get over his guilt and anger at his friend’s attempted suicide? Find his muse? Will she ever face her life? Do what she’s good at? Will they find any of it together? You’ll have to read and find out for yourselves.

Troy Brennan

Every Southie in Boston knows that name. The son of a dead mobster. The heart-throb with steel-blue eyes. “The Fixer” who can make or break you in this city.

Oh, and my new husband.

Sparrow Raynes

That’s me. No one seemed to remember my name up until he barged into my life.
But then he caged me.
Kidnapped me.
And killed every chance I had to run away from the place where we grew up.
Put simply, Troy Brennan clipped my wings.

I have dreams, big ones, but I doubt he’ll ever let me chase them. I have no idea why he decided to take me as his wife. But I do know this: pissing off this man will not do me any good. At all.

Review

If you can’t handle cheating, stay away from this one.

What does it mean when the most infamous man in town demands that you marry him? Even though he hasn’t looked your way since you were a child. Why did he kidnap you and force you into marriage? Why is his friend warning you off but your parent urging you on? How does the plain girl land the most eligible bachelor? Why is your new husband demanding your fidelity while never offering you his? What secrets does he have? Why are you attracted to this monster? Will you ever get the answers you need or the security you require? Will you even live through the experience?

All of these questions get answered and then some. I really enjoyed watching Sparrow grow more and more comfortable with herself. I also loved her refusal to put up with Troy’s shit. Troy really was a vile man for most of the book. His only saving grace was that he fell in love with his wife eventually. There is good suspense and hot sex in this book, if you can overlook the initial cheating.

Ophelia Donovan wants to move past the loves of her life, two badass bikers in her brother’s MC. When she gave Cash “Ghost” McCall and Louis “Stretch” King, an ultimatum of bringing their relationship out in the open or she’d walk, they chose separation. It crushed Ophelia’s dreams of having a happily-ever-after and family with Ghost and Stretch.

Stretch lives with guilt and pain from the death of his former lover and the injuries he received the same night. For a while, Cash and Stretch worked fine. They’d agreed to choose a woman together to bring into their relationship. Instead, Cash brought Outlaw’s sister in, intending to use her as a shield for Cash’s growing feelings for both Stretch and Fee. The dissolution of their relationship because of Fee’s goading leaves Stretch angry with both of his lovers.

Ghost doesn’t do relationships. He doesn’t have the confidence in himself that he’s equipped for something meaningful. He only knows he loves both Stretch and Ophelia. She wants kids, a house with him and Stretch, and, most of all, an open relationship with them. So open she expects Ghost to go to her brothers—his club’s president—and confess all. Even if he did do commitment, he wouldn’t be alive to see it through. Outlaw would kill Ghost, especially after already warning him away.

Christopher “Outlaw” Caldwell knows Ghost is about fun and fucking. He’s in charge of the Bobs, those women trotted out for pleasure at special club occasions. Outlaw’s little sister wants a family and he refuses to allow her to waste her years on a man who’ll walk away in the end. Outlaw’s life has been quiet recently, with every known club threat removed, giving him plenty of time to focus on family.

Thanks to Cash’s outrageous plan to throw Outlaw off, he raises the man’s suspicions instead. A biker from a rival club uses Ophelia to get on Outlaw’s good side, leaving her gravely injured, Outlaw in jail, Stretch admitting how important both she and Cash are to him, and Cash determined to never deny his love again.

Review

It has taken me a while to write my review because, I was and still am in denial. I can’t believe the series is over. I feel like I’ve lost a dear friend. I’m sullen, grouchy and a bit lonely. I love this series. It has captivated me since I opened my first book. Not only did I get to read a great series but I got to get to know Kat Kelly. She’s a wonderful friend and I am so blessed that she reached out to me. So, for my review, I’m going to say goodbye to these characters individually.

Cash McCall, Stretch King and Ophelia Donovan- what a wonderful triad you are. Stretch, you had my heart all the way through your journey. Ophelia, kudos to you for sticking to your guys with these two. Thank you for befriending Kendall, even when she didn’t deserve it. Cash, you were quite possibly the most selfish character of the whole series and almost didn’t deserve these two.

Digger- you had me hating you for a long time. You thoroughly convinced me of your betrayal. I’m glad you ended up being a good guy.

Bunny-I’m glad you got your HEA. You certainly deserved it.

Val- You poor screwed up man. I liked you so much better before you became so stupid.

Zoann- Bless your precious heart. You endured so much in your life. I’m thankful you and Val worked it out.

Mortician- Mort, how I love you! I love your humor, your darkness, your care and keeping of all the women in your life, including your friendship with Red.

Bailey- You are a saint. Mort was an ass to you while he fought his attraction to you. You got the best of both of your parents.

Megan- I adore you. Your love and trust of Christopher is exactly what a wife should have for her husband. The quiet yet firm way you ruled the women. Your patience, sweet lord, your patience.

Christopher- I still hate you! I hate you less now than early on in the series but I still hate you. The only thing positive I can say about you is that you LOVE your wife. When your death comes, I hope Kendall is the one causing it.

Johnnie-I loved you so much in the beginning. Then I lost respect for you when you failed Kendall again and again. I never questioned your love for her, just your defense of her.

Kendall- You were an amazing character. I wanted to hug and comfort you, then you showed your ass again. I wanted to shake you then. Back and forth, back and forth. You had your demons that you constantly battled and you lost more than you won with them. Stay away from Christopher. He’s your Kryptonite. Your attraction to him makes me want to throw up.

Thank you Kat for writing this series and your friendship. Maybe, check in with the Death Dwellers MC sometime? Maybe write about the kids next? What ever you decide, I’ll be there breathless with anticipation.

And once, he was her father’s best friend.

Confronted by the innocent young woman he’d known long ago, Orion agrees to take her in.

That is, if Kira is willing to meet his terms…

Review

The premise of this book is a bit creepy. More than a little offensive and not due to the age difference between the hero and heroine. A young woman is on the run for her life. She goes to her father’s former best friend for protection. The man her father told her to go to if she ever needed protection. When she gets there, the father’s former best friend is cold. He agrees to protect her but demands her body as payment. Say what?

What didn’t work for me:

His payment method.

He helped raise this girl and know he wants to have sex with her. Shudder.

Her thinking back to her childhood memories and him being there as a parental figure and then her thinking about how much she wants to sleep with him. Gross!

What I did like:

The secondary characters. I want to know their stories.

If you can get past the creep factor, this wasn’t too bad.

Loch Powers was the hottest guy I’d ever seen in my entire life.

And I hated him with every fiber of my being.

I’d practically known him since birth. Heck, we’d literally shared a crib as babies at his mom’s daycare.

Then I’d crushed on him hard when we hit middle school but he wouldn’t give geeky, glasses-wearing me the time of day. When his mom made him take me to the sixth grade dance, he’d humiliated me and I vowed to never talk to him again.

The next year when my family moved away, I told myself that if I never saw him again it’d be too soon.

Now I’m back and attending the same college, but I’m no longer the skinny, ugly girl who was so infatuated with him. And I’m so over him it’s not even funny.

But now that I’m no longer the ugly duckling, he’s set his sights on me, and I’m just not sure what to do with that.

Review

Two kids raised together from the crib. They grew up as playmates and best friends. Puberty hits, boy becomes an asshole, treats girl terribly, humiliates her in front her peers at school. Can he ever redeem himself?

Girl grows up and moves back to her hometown to go to college. She’s built, beautiful and smart. She and her best friend plot revenge against the hateful boy they remember and chaos ensues. Will there be an HEA?

Loved this story! All of it! The second chance to be with the one you’ve always loved. Righting wrongs. Accepting the consequences of your actions. Realizing that two wrongs truly don’t make a right. This story had it all.

I suppose some of us have to get really dirty before we can become truly clean.

I was allegedly South Dakota’s most famous old lady.
Sixteen years ago I survived my old man’s murder

Never again.
Never again will I surrender my heart.
Never again will I sacrifice to the Club.

But that all changed in one night.

I came home and crashed into him,
and my past and present blew up in my face.
Both of us lonely, running on empty, and unwilling to admit it.

Until now.
Now I feel things I’d forgotten about, want things I’d cut out of my insides.

Love not only stings when you lose it, when it’s ripped away from you.
When it first sinks its teeth in you, it can cut just as raw and sting just as deep.

I’d forgotten that.

Who holds the keys to betrayal? To suspicion? To trust?
To brotherhood? To family?
To redemption and a bleeding heart?
Right now, I just might.

Review

This book was suggested to me by a Goodreads friend who also loves MC romance. I’d heard of the author but hadn’t got a chance to read her yet. After the suggestion, I decided to move her up on my TBR and give her a go. I’m very glad that I did.

This story was a very emotional story that tugged at my heart from page one and kept me engrossed. I would’ve finished it sooner but the family was on vacation and we had family stuff to do. It’s a story of having a second chance at love despite losing your first one. Sometimes when you read a book with two different love stories in them, one gets over shadowed by the other one. Not here. I felt her love for both men and understood it. I saw what she was willing to sacrifice not only for her late husband or the MC but for herself.

Great characters, family loyalty, good suspense and hot sex. A winner in my book.

Melissa
They say there are defining points in your life – moments where you f**ked it all up, moments that make you its bitch, moments that shape you into the person you are.
The day I met Braxton Ward was one of my moments.
My name’s Melissa Hart, and I don’t think you’re ready for this story.

Hella
I go by a few names: Hella, Brax, 112, or, depending on whether I’ve been balls deep in you or not, C*nt. I don’t push the boundaries because in order to do so, one must have them. I’ve never had them. Being homeless at the not-so-tender age of fifteen morphed me into an emotionless shell, and when The Army recruited me, that shell turned into steel.
They say if fire is hot enough, it can melt steel; the hate that burns between Melissa Hart and me just might be hot enough.
Shit doesn’t come easy for us. Enemies are expanded, secrets are revealed, and lives will be taken. Yeah, I’m Braxton “Hella” Ward, and you bet your f*cking ass that you ain’t ready for this story

Review

Hella. What a messed up man! He was dark. Maybe the darkest guy that I’ve ever read about. You knew he was dark in the first book of the series but WOW! You truly get to see the level of darkness that lives in his soul in this book. It was cringe worthy.

This story is about the intense attraction between Hella and Melissa. It’s not an easy road to witness. Hella is a stubborn asshole. His treatment of Melissa is less than chivalrous. At times, it’s just plain cruel and selfish.

Melissa has her own demons to fight. A shattering tragedy in her teenage years has shaped her in to the woman she now is. She’s smart, caring and a hot ass mess. Her humor made me laugh a lot. She handles Hella very well.

I liked this book better than the first in the series. Be warned though, there is graphic violence and possibly triggers for some readers.

While there was a primary couple story, this book felt like 3 linked but separate love stories. I liked it but would’ve preferred each of those couples get their own books. I liked all the characters and want to know their full stories. There was also some touching moments where you were emotionally involved. Good sex scenes, which are another Lori Foster trademark. All Foster fans should enjoy this one.
