Failure wasn’t what Cassidy Sinclair expected when she got married … but that’s exactly what she got.

Instead of getting her happy ever after she is struggling to adjust to living back with her unconventional parents and the chatter of small town gossip.

Desi Cardwell was never known for his interpersonal skills and being back in small town Tolvey, sending the rumour mill into overdrive, was not what he wanted for himself.

Both forced home after a decade away, Cassidy and Desi begin an unlikely alliance when she agrees to train with him at his newly opened gym.

Desi is mysterious, guarded and borderline rude but what he lacks in charm he more than makes up for with his hard body and devilish good looks.

Desi does not need anything to keep him in Tolvey longer than necessary.

Cassidy needs something mind-numbing to help her forget her ex.

Both beautifully broken can they find in each other a light in the dark?

Oh my word! What a wonderful and beautiful story. Hayley Oakes should be on the best seller list because her writing and storytelling is amazing!!

This is the second book I’ve read from this author and I can see her climbing the best sellers list very quickly. Her characters are layered, interesting and relatable. This author makes me believe that I know these people and I have a connection with them. I think there is something that is relatable to everyone in this story. Sometimes we make mistakes that effect others, hindsight really is 20/20, we can’t always have what we want and the best things really do come to those who wait.

Cass and Desi are two people going through some personal rough times. They are each using the other to fill or mend a hole that has been left in their lives. Their journey is emotional at times and will have some highs, lows, funny moments and some seriously sexy butterfly war in your belly moments.

The sex scenes were really good and gave my tummy butterflies.

Although there are moments in this story that nothing is really happening, it’s the quality of the writing that still makes you hold onto every word. Truly a talented author that everyone needs to watch for.

I bet you’re wondering why only 4.5 stars? Let me attempt to explain. The ending was satisfying but ended really suddenly and I felt it needed more. If I was in Cassie’s situation I would not have been as forgiving. But then again, I’m not Cass. Also, why did Desi come back? I know he said that he was leaving but then… he just changed his mind? I don’t get it. Well, I do “get it”, but this just goes back to the need more explanation and time to forgive and heal. What else was Desi going to say before he… ummm… noticed what was going on? So, with that, I felt it needed more explanation and shouldn’t have ended so suddenly.

Overall, it is really an amazing story, very well written and you can get completely immersed into Cass and Desi’s world. The sex is also really freaking good. I will read ANYTHING this author writes and I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves contemporary romance.
