Aidan has always played it safe. Instead of pursuing his dream of creating innovative music that makes his soul sing, he settled for a degree in software, a job in a cubicle, and a spot in a generic band with his buddies.
And he’s always been straight. But when he’s seduced by magnetic local literary luminary Dario, Aidan must decide whether to keep playing it safe, or succumb to a ravenous passion and a nourishing love unlike anything he’s experienced before. Will he find the courage to go after real happiness if it means admitting he’s in love with a man?
Their journey together isn’t easy. Sometimes it isn’t safe. Even if Aidan has the courage to admit he’s in love with Dario, can he endure the repercussions of the traumatic event in Dario’s past?
This is the first book I’ve read from this author so I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into. Well, tug my tits and smack my ass! I really, REALLY enjoyed this book. The sex scenes were some of the most erotic and husband banging worthy that I’ve read in a long time.
“It can be a decadent thrill to be down on a man’s cock, your mouth stuffed full of hard dick, and get your ass fucked at the same time.”
About the book.. hmm, where to start? Hopefully you read the blurb and are now considering buying the book? Well, here is a little tidbit for you. Aidan is just gliding through life. He has a boring job, plays in a band that’s going nowhere and his girlfriend just broke up with him. Dario is a writer, openly gay and is the owner of the loft that Aidan’s band practices and plays gigs in. When Aidan leaves work to show up at Dario’s for band practice, he finds out that practice has been cancelled. Aidan and Dario hang out talking for a bit and Dario convinces Aidan to sing one of his new songs. Feeling vulnerable and a little out of place he sings a song. Aidan then asks Dario to read one of Dario’s short stories. This is where it starts to really get interesting… Dario’s short story is m/m porn and Aidan is confused by his reaction. Then the story really begins.
“Life couldn’t be all fucking and writing and playing and kissing. Nobody’s that lucky.”
This story if full of sweet and tender moments and even more erotically charged sex. There is some BDSM but it doesn’t over power the story and is probably the most well balanced BDSM with a purpose I’ve ever read. I guess its more of a physiological than physical. But still make you wanna slide outta your seat HOT!
There are also multiple partners m/m, m/f/m, m/m/m and m/f. HOLY SHIT! The m/f/m scene is now in my top 10! Scratch that… ALL of the sex scenes in this book are in my top 10!
“While you’re doing it, don’t be quiet for my sake. Be nice and loud so I have something to masturbate to.”
“Do you like that? The thought of her touching herself while she listens to us fucking?”
I mean almost throughout this entire book this was my reaction…
Ok… lets talk about the story a little bit more. I thought Aidan and Dario’s characters were well written and well developed. I also really enjoyed all of the side characters and their very distinct personalities. Like Vera and Xavi. Mmm… I really liked these characters. Xavi is a little intense and I would be really scared of him.
“Maybe you should host a Hawaiian Luau. I’ll gladly help you get him on the spit. We both know he’ll be tender and delicious.”
Now for some of the things I personally didn’t care for. The amount of times they call each other “love”. *gagging* Its ok a few times, but it felt like it was constant to me. The story behind the sex was interesting but a little boring. Thank goodness there was a fuck-ton of really hot and well written sex to balance that out. Otherwise this could have been bad. But we are reading an erotic romance *waggles eyebrows*. Don’t get me wrong… there is still a story here and it is good, just not exciting.
If anyone knows me then they know that I don’t like food with my sex and toe suckers. However, I can handle a little bit of both just not a lot. There is one very brief foot kissing scene and it was actually very well done. It was quick and maybe only one or two sentences long and it contributed to the scene well. BRAVO Varian!! Bravo! There is some felching in this book, but nothing I couldn’t handle.
Overall, I really liked this one a lot! It was very well written, the characters are well developed and the story flowed really well, making this an easy read. The sexual relationship all the characters have is believable and HOT. Even Aidan being straight and discovering new things is believable. I found myself asking some of the same questions he was asking himself. How would one react to certain situations. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys m/m and is looking for something more intense than the usual m/m.
