Should she agree to be spanked? Just the once? It would all be in the name of research, of course…
When journalist Kirsten Anderson is told by her boss to write an article about BDSM she’s extremely reluctant. She tries to get out of it by claiming she doesn’t know anything about BDSM, but that isn’t strictly true. None of her colleagues know about her kinky past and she has no intention of letting them find out, but she isn’t in a position to turn the assignment down either.
When her friend Chloe sees how stressed Kirsten is about the article she offers to take her to a BDSM club to find some inspiration. Kirsten agrees, but doesn’t mention that she used to go to this particular club regularly until a bad experience made her turn her back on the kinky lifestyle three years earlier.
Returning to the club and watching the scenes around them reminds Kirsten what she’s missing. She’s envious of the girl being flogged by her Dom nearby, but she’s so busy denying it that she doesn’t recognize the burning need inside her. Until she spots Eddie—a colleague she’s got a secret crush on—working in the club as a Dungeon Monitor.
Eddie reintroduces her to the joys of Dominance and submission, the delicious sting of a spanking and the incredible sex that follows. But is she strong enough to conquer her fears?
Publisher’s Note: This book was previously released as part of the Over the Knee anthology by Totally Bound Publishing.

Pretty good story. The sex scenes were actually different and really good. The first interaction that Eric and Kirsten have made my insides quiver and want to go home and do the exact same thing with my husband. There doesn’t have to be sexual intercourse for it to be the sexy and panty melting hot. Sometimes the words spoken are enough to get the juices flowing. Maybe a little hair pulling too 😉 There is intercourse later, but that first scene was more memorable for me.
“I was just about managing to hold onto my equilibrium when he reached up and took a handful of my hair. He didn’t exactly pull it, but he held it firmly, keeping my head in place, and I melted like a ragdoll kitten. I knew he had me then. So did he.”
The storyline is good but seemed to end very abruptly. I think there is a lot more story there, but it felt rushed. There is an epilogue, but it didn’t really give too much info and really could have just been another chapter.
Overall it’s a wonderful story. One thing I would like to point out and I think is VERY important is that the main character didn’t throw her former Dom under a bus. Kirsten had a bad experience and took equal responsibility in the turn out. This is a breath of fresh air and I just love the way it’s written. Kirsten is on a journey she had no intention of taking, to reawaken a piece of her soul that she didn’t realize she missed so much.
Katy Swann is in her forties and lives near London, UK with her husband, three children and two cats.
When she isn’t writing about strict, sexy Doms putting their strong-willed subs in their place, she likes to read about them. As well as writing, Katy spends her time trying to avoid the housework, keeping the kids from killing each other and drinking copious cups of coffee in the local coffee shop. Coffee and chocolate are the two things that keep her sane and focused, so they’re often close by when she sits down to write.
To Love and Submit is her first erotic novel, which will be closely followed by To Love and Trust and To Love and Obey, which will complete the Boundaries trilogy.
