Matthew “Val” Taylor, the Road Captain in the club, was introduced to sex at an early age. Saved from the streets by the club’s Enforcer and President years ago, Val now lives for women and the open road. Until the night the only woman he’s ever loved is almost killed. Val determines to change his ways and be the man Zoann Donovan should have and the father their son deserves.

Zoann has loved Val for a long time. Violence and bitter betrayal forces her to ignore her feelings and distance herself not only from the sexy RC, but her beloved brother, too. Until she discovers the truth. Can Zoann ever be forgiven for all the pain she’s caused? Will Val overcome his own demons and have a future with her and their son? Who will survive in an MC filled with lust and revenge, love and hate?

Warning: This is a tale of rape, murders, deception, heartache, lies, and infidelity. The road to redemption is a tumultuous struggle where only the strong survive and justice is served…Outlaw-style.

ReviewAttractive woman reading a book

First of all, let me start with an apology to Kathryn Kelly. I somehow, through my computer challenged brain, lost this book in my Kindle documents. I finally found it and started it right away. I had been anticipating reading this book and was super pumped. I’m so very happy I found this book. Kathryn Kelly is one of three authors that I think does MC romance perfectly. It’s not MC lite and please those of you that like that genre, don’t get pissy with me. There’s nothing wrong with MC lite and I enjoy reading books in that genre but there’s MC lite and then there’s gritty MC. Ms. Kelly writes gritty MC and she’s a master of her craft.

Finally, we got the complete story of Matthew “Val” and Zoann. This couple has intrigued me so much while reading this series. Val was so darn endearing to me that I just wanted to squeeze his manwhoring self. Well, you get to find out why he’s such a man whore. He’s an addict. In more ways than one. His addictions are as follows: sex, pills and Zoann. The first two he can get easily, the last, not so much. Val was introduced to sex at twelve by his parents, who he claimed loved him in their own way. I wanted to ask what way made the intro to sex okay but whatever. I get why Val glutted himself on other women considering Zoann’s treatment of him but he was hurtful in his own way also.

Zoann was an enigma to me before this story. She was such an uber bitch. I mean an over the top bitch. Now, after reading this book, I get it. I bawled my damn eyes out reading her story. She considered herself weak when she was so very strong. To face what she did was as impressive as it was heart wrenching. She has been in love with Val since she was seventeen. After he gave her a ride home from the club, she’s brutally raped by her half brother’s father over a bet. She was forced to take the morning after pill, keep the assault quiet so it didn’t hurt the club and faced the supposed loss of her brother. Her bitchery was well earned and entitled.

The MC faces a lot of things in this book. A dirty cop, missing members, rocky marriages, betrayal, violence, pregancies, just to name a few. I really enjoyed this book but I’m gonna tell you what I didn’t like. Mort cheated on Bailey and news flash Mort, oral sex is sex. Mort needs to nut up and make Bailey feel she’s important before she walks away for good. Outlaw is still an asshole and still undeserving of his wife. If I was Megan. I’d drop him right now. Val wasn’t as sympathetic to Zoann’s rape as he should’ve been. He was also a shitty father. Now, I’ll end with the part that bothered me the most. Quit picking on Kendall! Who gives a shit that she’s not Megan! I know ahe doesn’t have a filter but she’s never malicious. She’s very socially awkward but that’s not all her fault. This series is written it seems, to get you to hate her and I won’t do it. I love Megan but she’s not the end all be all. So in closing, Team Kendall, bitches!
