Unable to convince her husband they are ready to become parents, Erika decides to buy a puppy. She heads into rural Missouri on a day trip, following up on a lead in the classifieds, and gets more than she bargained for.

After the death of her mother, Bobbie Jean finds herself living with her aunt and uncle in the backwoods of Missouri.
But her relatives have a dark secret.
The family business.

Authors recommended reading order: FAMILY BUSINESS, LUCIFER’S CHILDREN, LUCIFER’S WHORE (just a side story, can be read before or after LIVE BAIT), FAMILY BUSINESS: LIVE BAIT.

Right off the bat I would like to give a warning to readers. If you’re looking for something safe, familiar or a happy ending, then this book probably isn’t for you. If you have triggers with extreme violence, torture, rape, animal neglect, dog fighting and one (not graphic but it was intentional) baby death, then you should approach with caution. You have been warned. On the flip side, if you have an open mind, a strong stomach and love a twisted tale that will immediately pull you in, give you hope and then crush your dreams, you should totally give this book a try. You will not regret it.

This is the first time I’ve read Bret Williams and most definitely not the last. When I found out he was a local author, I had to stalk him and his books to see what they were all about. I really enjoy reading books that are set in or around my area. Family Business didn’t specifically say where this was located, just in the “backwoods of Missouri” and that sounds like it could be the deepest and darkest part of the Ozark area, or at least that is what I imagined.

The story starts innocently enough, with Erika planning on surprising her husband, Stephen, with a new puppy. While driving to a breeder in the rural backwoods Missouri, Erika has some internal warning alarms going off but ignores them because she really wants a puppy. While trying to decide on just the right pup to bring home, Erika is met with a surprise herself and things take a very dark and disturbing turn.

The only part that kind of got on my nerves was an early section with a ton of rape. Yes, it’s necessary for the story progression but let’s move on, I get it. For a minute, it really felt like the story wasn’t progressing but it eventually did. Another thing that shocked me (actually there was a ton of things that shocked me) was the ending and how abruptly it ended. It feels like a cliffhanger, but the more I think about it, the more I feel like it’s not really a cliffhanger. Are there questions I need answered, yes and hopefully I’ll get those answered in the other books.

Since I bought the audio version of this book, I need to comment on Joe Hempel’s performance. Wow! He has a smooth and hypnotizing voice. He does character voices effortlessly and I could easily distinguish who was talking by the accent he used. He seemed to really enjoy what he was reading.

Overall, this book is dark, twisted, brutal, uncompromising and disturbing. Family Business made me cringe, laugh and cry. Fantastic writing, world building and character development. I would recommend this book to horror fans, but please do read the warning and read at your own risk. I gave this 5 stars because the overall story and the audio narrator were so amazing. Bravo!

OH! P.s… Stephen… you are a motherfucker! I hope karma catches up to your ass. Bitch!

P.S.S. If you want to know what happens to the baby then read this part. This is a true spoiler alert. Do not read this if you don’t want to know what happens. (These women are being bread like dogs and there is one part where a newborn baby is shot. The baby is killed because he was born deformed and for revenge. The death is not detailed and it does not dwell on it, but it is in there.)

Well, with a warning like this…

WARNING!!! This story contains non-consensual sex, violence, abuse, mutilation, snuff and cannibalism. Read it at your own risk. I’m not responsible for your dinner finding its way back 🙂 WARNING!!!

Thank you Jessica for the recommendation. I really enjoyed this sick and twisted tale. To be completely honest, this wasn’t as dark as I was expecting. HOWEVER, this was really dark and extremely fucked up. Going into this short story I was pretty nervous and didn’t know what to expect.

Danny, is living with his Uncle because his mother passed away and his dad has been dead for a number of years. His Uncle is very comforting and supportive. Danny is enrolled in school and doing well. A few months go by and there is this one door in the house that is never opened, the basement door. Danny asked his Uncle about it and was always told, curiosity killed the cat. Well, that made Danny even more curious about what was behind the door. Do you know what happened next? While his Uncle was at work, Danny finds his way into the basement and what he finds there is not at all what he expected.

description

From this point on my heart was pretty much beating out of my chest. You know that feeling when you’re a kid and you’re doing something that you know you’re not supposed to be doing. Then someone walks in and bust you… ya. That feeling.

description

This is where the fucked up shit happens. Oh my word! Humiliation, mutilation, mindfuckery, abuse and sexual violence. Let me tell you about the “snuff”. Yes, there is a section in here where a film is shown and described in detail. This short story is not for the faint of heart. The author gives a great and very true warning.

description

Then… that ending. I expected death and destruction and I got something completely different.

I did have some issues with this though. This was banned because Danny is a minor and there is a couple brief moments of cringe worthy incest. Because Danny didn’t put up a fight at all, it seemed that he was trying to justify everything that was going on by saying that he fears his Uncle. I’m not really sure about that. But on the flip side, if I had walked into what Danny did, maybe I would be shocked and scared too. Also, I think this story was translated to English because there are a lot of grammar errors.

Overall, I enjoyed it. It is totally fucked up and will probably give me a bad dream or two.

An Erotic Story With A Cutting Edge
Lucy, a succubus still coming to terms with her special nature, falls in love with her hairdresser. Elbe isn’t the type of girl she usually falls for, but after seeing her stand up to her bigoted brother, Lucy is impressed by Elbe’s confidence and energy, convinced there’s more to this girl underneath her shy and timid personality.
She offers Elbe her friendship, which quickly turns into scalding passion.
But Elbe’s brother, in his religious zealousness, isn’t so easily deterred…

Review

I’ve read this author before and I already know that Lusty Soul is talented when it comes to weaving her magical words together to form very interesting tales that keep you glued to the pages. However, I was a little skeptical that lightning could strike twice.

The Haircut was a pleasant and welcome surprise! This author takes something supernatural and cleverly crafts it into real life and makes it come alive. The characters are interesting and the connection, conflict and tension between them is palpable. Then… then I’m blessed with a surprise twist. I really didn’t expect that but that is exactly what made me love this even more.

description

Lucy is a pansexual succubus in search of the holy grail in a relationship that will feed her insatiable appetite for sexual energy. Lucy is picking up some pretty good vibes from her hair dresser, Elbe. Lucy and Elbe flirt a little when Elbe’s brother pays her a surprise visit. These two have some serious issues that this short story doesn’t get too involved in. However, we do get enough to know it’s importance to the development of the story and gives you a little history at the same time.

“I know your interpretation of your law!” she spat back at him. “I know you’re good at cherry-picking, Aaron. Picking the bits and pieces of your Bible that you can hide behind to condemn others, but conveniently dismissing the parts that make you feel uncomfortable.”

description

The sex is hot and meaningful but the tension that lead up to the sex are more interesting to me. They set the tone and give it breath. The scenes are described so well, that you almost feel that this is the first time that you’ve read anything like this.

description

There are a couple of parts where I would start to roll my eyes and think “cliché”. But I continued and I’m glad I did. Let me try to explain. Elbe had just had a traumatic event and Lucy shows up. Elbe starts to kiss her and all I’m thinking is “oh no. Please don’t just jump right into it. It makes the story feel forced and unoriginal.” But I immediately ate my words. Like I said before… Lusty Soul has a way with weaving words together so perfectly that she can create magic.

Overall, I really loved this. Lusty Soul is an extremely talented author and if you like to read female/female erotica with a twist then The Haircut is something you should take a chance on.

Review

**UPDATE REREAD 3/16/17**
I listened to the audio version to refresh my memory so I can move onto the next one. I’m really glad I did because there is some important things I forgot about. Also, Irina Stone, the narrator is pretty good. Now I can move onto The Bruja and the Beast. **UPDATE REREAD 3/16/17**

Ahhhh… Satan’s balls! 😉 I knew it! I knew that The Brothels of Brimstone was going to be awesome and it was! Ever since I read the first book, The Devil and Delilah, I’ve been hooked. So in this installment, Delilah is going after the gang of guys that killed her family and she is still trying to learn about her new self. Delilah meets Celia who is a cook in a brothel and has her first f/f experience. While in the brothel, Delilah takes advantage of all the healing qualities it has to offer before she sets out on completing her journey. Of course Azazel shows up and spices up the place.

“Oh, if we were in Hell… if I had you where I really wanted you…” He leaned down and purred in her ear, “I would strip the skin from your bones, and you would love every fucking second of it.”

description

The sex is very detailed and really good. My favorite part is the priest! I love the corrupting of a priest and I just don’t see it often. I see it in porn but not a lot in books (or at least the ones I’ve read). Just one of my kinks. I have no idea why… I’ve never been religious and rarely went to church. FUCK it’s naughty, taboo and hot 😉

description
description

My ONLY complaints are that all of the books aren’t out yet and I wanted more story in the first 40ish percent. I know… WTF am I talking about? Let me try to explain… this story is so awesome, fascinating and epic that I need more of it. As the story progresses, I keep reading about all the sex Delilah is having. Which is fantastic and erotic to read about and it truly is important and a huge part of the story development. So, I totally get why there is so much of it. However, I wanted more story. The sex is fantastic and very well written but I think the story needs to outshine some of the sex.

description

Overall, I loved it and I can’t wait for the next Delilah Devilshot. There is a lot of behind the scenes things going on that pulls the reader in and wanting to come back for more. I need to find out what this “tribute” is. Devil baby? Anal? WHAT! Then the game between Azazel and Samael? It’s like they are playing dolls with people’s souls. I’d really like to learn more about the Red Shoes brothel, Johnny Pharoah, Luke and Samael. I’d like to know what Azazel has up his sleeve and what Delilah’s next move is.

Review for Monstrous Lust: The Forest Stud’s Seed #1 by E.M. Beastly

Lena has fallen prey to the lustful god of the forest and set loose inside his labyrinth. Now only his beastly servants can show Lena the way out. Will they? Or will the monsters feed her the fruits of carnal forbidden desire?

“It should be known that this work and all other works in this series deals with erotic and sexual encounters with the unusual. It is an exploration of erotica beyond the mundane limitations of the real world.

This causes my work to touch upon very taboo subjects of inhuman monsters, creatures and mythical beasts having sexual relationships, hardcore sexual orgies and group sex with women. If that is not your thing, then sadly this book is not for you.

But if you are curious about what sex could be like with creatures of fur and fang; or scales, gills and feathers. Then prepare for a fun read.

So sit back, relax and remember: If it has a human level of intelligence or better. If it can communicate with a language. If it is sexually mature for it’s species. Then you should be ale to fuck it. Not that something like that exists in our known reality. But that is what fiction is for, right?”

Review

description

This one is better than the first one. I did get some information as to how Lena ended up in the forest. Her and her friends had heard stories about the forest monsters, demons and horned goat men. Supposedly a lot of women had gone missing from there. So why not gather a group of friends to check it out and have a sleep over in the “haunted” forest. Well, isnt this how some horror movies start? Well, apparently porn can start this way too. Hahaha!

So Lena wakes up naked and in a different place in the forest. She then finds some water to swim and or bath in and she is approached by a ferret/weasel monster man. I bet you can’t guess what happens next… or maybe you can. After all this is monster erotica.

You know what… the ferret/weasel monster man thing was pretty good. I kind of dug it. I didn’t even mind the sticky fruit and that stuff usually grosses me out.

“I Kodo. Only one here now but others waiting deeper in. I want to mate with you!”

Well, Lena is a self admitted slut and pretty horny all the time so she’ll just add ferret monster man to her list of adventurous things shes done.

When Kodo and Lena are done “mating”, Lena finds out that she needs to travel further into the forest if she wants to find her friends. Sounds like a sex quest to me! Okay… I’m in. I’d like to find out more.

Overall, it was okay. This one did shed some light onto what in the world was going on and made more since. The ferret monster man was a new one for me but I liked it. So, Im happy that I did read this story and I do plan on reading the next one. I think the first story would have been a lot better if this one was included in it.

The Villainess is back!
Follow the further adventures of the villainess Capricious Whim as she suffers the consequences of killing the double-crossing fixer who had set her up. It’s hard being a villain… and even harder when the local contacts think you could be out to get them. Realizing she needs to have someone to watch her back and negotiate jobs for her, Caprice is in a sticky situation…but she needs the perfect partner.

Enter Regulus, a villain from the “bad old days”. The psychic operative has got the experience, subterfuge, and brutality she needs to succeed in her goals. In him, Caprice meets her equal in power, bloodlust, and desire. A meeting between their minds results in a dark, dangerous passion, a thirst unable to be quenched with just one drink.

There’s only two problems… he’s an interdimensional fugitive from Axis Earth, an alternate dimension where the Axis powers won World War II, and his help comes with a price. When Caprice agrees to help him get free from the hunters who pursue him, a seemingly straightforward task becomes complicated… fast.

This is a super-villainous dark fantasy/sci-fi novel, containing mature content and themes including descriptive violence and explicit sexual situations.

Review

Dear Alana Melos,

description
description

That is all for now.

Sincerely,
Mindy Book Snitch

The Prince of Cups is a wonderfully evil, diabolical, wickedly majestic and pleasurable story of the villains of Imperial City. WOW! Alana Melos does it again, but I didn’t really expect anything less.

This book has sex, violence, major fighting action and a really good storyline. The writing is smooth and you will get hooked right away. ALL of the characters are interesting and we get to meet a few new ones in this book. Regulus aka Gerard, Nazferatu aka Naz (which is really Nosferatu but in an alternate earth called Axis) and Night Siren aka Rebekah Furst. Such a great and complex cast of characters who I am really enjoying getting to know. I am especially intrigued by Caprice’s mind and what has been hidden in there.

description

Let’s talk about my current obsession Nazferatu. Naz, the Axis version of Nos seems slightly more sadistic. This could be because Naz has a bigger part in this book then Nos did in book #1. But I do love him. He is perfectly evil and fascinated by Caprice and her dark side. The scene where Naz and Caprice are playing with their victim is intense and very cat and mouse like. Imagine the movies Freeway 1 & 2 (oldie but a goodie), American Psycho and Hostel. Mixing them together is what I imagine that Nazferatu and Caprice to be like. These two seemed to feed off of each other. The more sadistic and ruthless they acted the more lost into the perverse dark abyss they became. I loved every second of it. But I will warn you the cat and mouse scene is fucking dark and not for the faint of heart.

“Mixing death and sex excited me, rousing my hunter’s instinct.”

description

“Like me, he was a sadist, and while pleasure loops and orgasming forever might be delightful, it would never touch the pure ecstasy I felt while killing.”

description

There are a lot of really good and divinely fucked up sex scenes. Alana Melos keeps it interesting and is constantly changing things up. The sex with Regulus is awesome and compared to sex with Naz, it’s kind of feels more sweet, which it’s not, but Naz is so dark and twisted. *shivers*

description

Now for a couple of things that I didn’t really care for. I rated this 4.5 out of 5 stars only because politics bore me. BUT it was easy to follow and the politics didn’t last too long. It was very brilliantly woven in with awesome fights, kinky sex, mind blowing story and all around kickassery. There was also a couple of parts where being stuck in Naz’s head was boring but again, that didn’t last long either. But that’s it. Those are my only complaints.

There is one part in the book that made me giggle a bit. I don’t think it was meant that way, but the there is a fight scene pretty close to the beginning between Caprice and a metahuman with the power to control electricity. Its a great fight scene, but there are times where all I can picture is the Emperor from Star Wars and his electric fingers. I think the gif below perfectly describes what was going through my head. Again… I think of random and weird shit sometimes. LOL!

description

Overall, this is a great book and a really great series. I can see this being turned into a TV show or even a movie series. In my opinion, this is the kind of stuff that people want to watch. The danger, action, complex characters, and sex is what draws people in. I didn’t even really touch on the fight scenes and they are very well done. I can see every motion in my head perfectly. Anyway, I hope I didn’t make this book sound too dark. It has dark moments, but it’s not all that way. I recommend checking out this book and this series. I can’t wait for the next one. I’m craving more from the villains of Imperial City and I can’t wait to crack open Caprice’s head to see what’s been hiding in there.

Lena is lost in an old enchanted forest where legends of lustful creatures and demons roam. Will she escape, or willingly submit herself to new experiences that could only exist in an erotic fairy world?

Review

description

Mehh… Feels incomplete to me. Let me try to explain… The premise of the story is good but it feels like there are pieces missing. There are no explanations or insight as to how things came to be and why they are. I know it’s only 14 pages, but maybe drop some hints as to why Lena is in the enchanted forest. It does mention that her and her friends were there, but why and where are her friends now and if they are still there how did they get separated? Why are they there in the first place? Just seems like there are holes in the story and it kind of feels forced.

“You’re the monster from that old legend. The devil who was summoned by the witch who lived here over a hundred years ago, aren’t you?”

devil rocks

I also think that some of the dialog seemed a little off compared to genre of the story? I’m not sure I can explain this correctly… It’s like mixing porn with an articulate mythological creature who is regal and Godly and Lena is the TSTL character that has had a lobotomy and is just… there.

“Now the pact will be signed. Let the earthly bodies combine with the heavens. I shall watch and continue to be pleased.”

what

The sex was also just okay to me. It came at you hard and fast like a sneak attack acid trip. I’ve not read anything with bird monsters before. So that was new and intriguing. 🙂

What I did like is that the story has promise and it’s a great concept for monster erotica. It has this other worldly and/or dark fairy tale feel to it. Since this is only a 14 page story, maybe the other stories will shine some light into some of those holes that I feel are missing. I’m not expecting a 400 page masterpiece, but I do expect for the story to make sense. It’s like a drive by fictioning. I feel like somebody just hit me with something that could be fabulous but I’m not sure what. So I will be continuing on with the series.

Erika

I was told that dreams were our heart’s desires. My nightmares, however, became my obsession.

His name is Michael Crist.

My boyfriend’s older brother is like that scary movie that you peek through your hand to watch. He is handsome, strong, and completely terrifying. The star of his college’s basketball team and now gone pro, he’s more concerned with the dirt on his shoe than me.

But I noticed him.

I saw him. I heard him. The things that he did, and the deeds that he hid…For years, I bit my nails, unable to look away.

Now, I’ve graduated high school and moved on to college, but I haven’t stopped watching Michael. He’s bad, and the dirt I’ve seen isn’t content to stay in my head anymore.

Because he’s finally noticed me.

Michael

Her name is Erika Fane, but everyone calls her Rika.

My brother’s girlfriend grew up hanging around my house and is always at our dinner table. She looks down when I enter a room and stills when I am close. I can always feel the fear rolling off of her, and while I haven’t had her body, I know that I have her mind. That’s all I really want anyway.

Until my brother leaves for the military, and I find Rika alone at college.

In my city.

Unprotected.

The opportunity is too good to be true as well as the timing. Because you see, three years ago she put a few of my high school friends in prison, and now they’re out.

We’ve waited. We’ve been patient. And now every last one of her nightmares will come true.

What an utterly confusing book this was! It was all explained but until it was, I spent most of the time wanting to throat punch all the characters. When I read the synopsis of this book a couple of months ago, I was practically salivating to get my hands on it. I wasn’t disappointed.

What I liked about the book:

1.) The mystery of what happened.
2.) The suspense of the revenge plot.

What I didn’t like was:

1.) The pack mentality of the males.
2.) The heroine’s blindly forgiving love of the hero.

This was a good book after everything was explained but until then I kept thinking “Why all the great reviews?” The characters are psychotic assholes! You have to read it to understand. And it’s DIRTY! Hot sex scenes that leave you with the fan on high to cool off your kitty. This was said to be a standalone but I really want Will and Kai’s stories.

This story is classified as a novella but is novel length. It has a little of everything in it, but mostly, it’s about Outlaw, Meggie, Johnnie and Kendall.

All Outlaw wants is for Meggie to give birth to their latest and hopefully last baby. He’ll suffer through anything as long as Meggie is okay.

Meggie knows she isn’t feeling great. Pregnancy has never been simple for her. She has all of her holiday plans and hopes they go off with no unforseen problems.

Johnnie has his hands full trying to play mediator between Outlaw and Kendall. Meggie still isn’t speaking to him. He knows that he isn’t the same person he used to be but he isn’t sure how to be who he needs to be.

Kendall is Kendall. She’s still off her meds and no offense, but she’s a crazy bitch. I hear Buck Cherry singing whenever she walks into the room.

There’s a snippet about Cash, Stretch and Ophelia to whet our appetites for the next book. You get tons of suspense and hot sex, which was great. Kathryn Kelly gives us a realistic look at depression and the fight against it. Kendall haters get even more reasons to hate her but try to remember that when she’s off of her meds, she’s not totally responsible for her actions. This was an excellent book with my girl getting plenty of page time.

So, what I’m saying is that I’m still Team Kendall, bitches!

The look on Rose’s face had screamed that she was hiding something. Hell, she’d practically run away from me. There was something to that. I knew there was…

After ten years in the employ of a mysterious crime boss, River “Captain” Kipling is ready to leave his sordid past—and his cover occupation as an upscale restaurateur—behind him. The only thing standing in the way of his “retirement” is his commitment to launch a new restaurant in the resort town of Rosemary Beach. With his sister, Blaire, nearby, Captain can delay his dream of running a humble bar on the waterfront, but the unwanted attentions of his head server, Elle, have him itching to get out.

Until he notices Rose Henderson, the new server at the restaurant. All he knows about the pretty redhead with the cute glasses is that she’s a hardworking single mom from Oklahoma. But there’s something overly familiar about her laugh…something strange about the way she looks at Captain..

Review

SPOILER ALERT!

I was literally dreading the release of this book. I love Abbi Glines. I love this series. Why was I dreading it so bad? Well, honestly, I didn’t care about Captain, AKA River. Not in the least, but, Abbi Glines being the crafty bitch that she is, once again, showed me who was boss. We knew a little about Captain and this book gave us much more of a good look at him.

Rose is a great heroine. She’s sweet, loyal and just damn precious. She’s loved Captain for years and years. After losing touch for several years, she’s finally tracked him down but her appearance is different, so he doesn’t recognize her. She’s glad to have finally found him but doesn’t like the man that he has become.

This should’ve been a five star read for me. I love second chance romances and secret babies. My problem is that the author has made this series kind of dark with Captain’s previous occupation and associates. Why even introduce his character? Mase could’ve avenged Reese. I just found it all like the author was trying to pull something out of the air. It was unnecessary. And bringing Major into that world? Really? Unforgivable? Maybe. All that being said, I ended up enjoying the book and can’t wait for Nan’s book.
