After the death of her mother, Bobbie Jean finds herself living with her aunt and uncle in the backwoods of Missouri.

The family business.

Authors recommended reading order: FAMILY BUSINESS, LUCIFER’S CHILDREN, LUCIFER’S WHORE (just a side story, can be read before or after LIVE BAIT), FAMILY BUSINESS: LIVE BAIT.

Right off the bat I would like to give a warning to readers. If you’re looking for something safe, familiar or a happy ending, then this book probably isn’t for you. If you have triggers with extreme violence, torture, rape, animal neglect, dog fighting and one (not graphic but it was intentional) baby death, then you should approach with caution. You have been warned. On the flip side, if you have an open mind, a strong stomach and love a twisted tale that will immediately pull you in, give you hope and then crush your dreams, you should totally give this book a try. You will not regret it.

This is the first time I’ve read Bret Williams and most definitely not the last. When I found out he was a local author, I had to stalk him and his books to see what they were all about. I really enjoy reading books that are set in or around my area. Family Business didn’t specifically say where this was located, just in the “backwoods of Missouri” and that sounds like it could be the deepest and darkest part of the Ozark area, or at least that is what I imagined.

The story starts innocently enough, with Erika planning on surprising her husband, Stephen, with a new puppy. While driving to a breeder in the rural backwoods Missouri, Erika has some internal warning alarms going off but ignores them because she really wants a puppy. While trying to decide on just the right pup to bring home, Erika is met with a surprise herself and things take a very dark and disturbing turn.

The only part that kind of got on my nerves was an early section with a ton of rape. Yes, it’s necessary for the story progression but let’s move on, I get it. For a minute, it really felt like the story wasn’t progressing but it eventually did. Another thing that shocked me (actually there was a ton of things that shocked me) was the ending and how abruptly it ended. It feels like a cliffhanger, but the more I think about it, the more I feel like it’s not really a cliffhanger. Are there questions I need answered, yes and hopefully I’ll get those answered in the other books.

Since I bought the audio version of this book, I need to comment on Joe Hempel’s performance. Wow! He has a smooth and hypnotizing voice. He does character voices effortlessly and I could easily distinguish who was talking by the accent he used. He seemed to really enjoy what he was reading.

Overall, this book is dark, twisted, brutal, uncompromising and disturbing. Family Business made me cringe, laugh and cry. Fantastic writing, world building and character development. I would recommend this book to horror fans, but please do read the warning and read at your own risk. I gave this 5 stars because the overall story and the audio narrator were so amazing. Bravo!

OH! P.s… Stephen… you are a motherfucker! I hope karma catches up to your ass. Bitch!

P.S.S. If you want to know what happens to the baby then read this part. This is a true spoiler alert. Do not read this if you don’t want to know what happens. (These women are being bread like dogs and there is one part where a newborn baby is shot. The baby is killed because he was born deformed and for revenge. The death is not detailed and it does not dwell on it, but it is in there.)

Review

First a little warning as this book/series contains some possibly distressing material. It involves graphic rape, torture, cannibalism and copious amounts of blood and twisted fuckery. There might be things that may make you feel uncomfortable, turn you on or maybe even vomit. But none of that effects me so bring on the dark side!

description

Deadly Demons picks up right where Deadly Dominance left off. In this round we get to find out the aftermath of Nathan and Adrianna’s night of sexual deviation and chilling slaughter of Adrianna’s “friends”, Mandy and Bo.

Nathan and Adrianna get the hell out of Dodge and are now officially on a road trip to get far away from the scene that played out the night before. Both of them are constantly thinking about killing the other and wondering if the other will get them first.

description

I feel like part of this book could be a new game show called “Getting to Know Your Serial Killer”. A lot of this book really gets the back story on Nathan and Adrianna and really tells us how and why these two do the things they do. In my opinion, Adrianna is a sexual submissive with homicidal tendencies. I really think she was feeling kind of bad about killing her friends and its really starting to fuck with her head. Nathan is a power/control junkie who brags about his conquests through his books and someone from his past is about to catch up to him. AND I can’t wait to see how that turns out!

description

The sex is absolutely sickening and fantastic. FUCK! Adam and Alexia can really write a great sex scene. Here is a bit of one scene that is crazy hot!

“His lips find mine and his tongue slips in massaging me. When I become hungry for more, he rips my head back to show me he’s in control. As his grip loosens my hair, I feel him penetrate my tight core, lunging so deep all I feel is his heart beat inside of me.”

There is so much fantastic stuff in here that I don’t want to accidentally give anything away so I’ll make this last bit quick. We do get some new faces of evil in this one. Bethany and Mrs. Red. That’s it…. that’s all I can say about that. OH wait… that fucking ending? Holy shit! I did not see that coming!

description

This book is filled with blood, debauchery, murder, sexual wickedness and evil perversion. This is a very well written story, but does have some misspelled words or words that are spelled correctly but are the wrong words for the sentence. That is literally my only complaint. I can’t wait for you all to read it and I am SUPER EXCITED about the next book.

Well, with a warning like this…

WARNING!!! This story contains non-consensual sex, violence, abuse, mutilation, snuff and cannibalism. Read it at your own risk. I’m not responsible for your dinner finding its way back 🙂 WARNING!!!

Thank you Jessica for the recommendation. I really enjoyed this sick and twisted tale. To be completely honest, this wasn’t as dark as I was expecting. HOWEVER, this was really dark and extremely fucked up. Going into this short story I was pretty nervous and didn’t know what to expect.

Danny, is living with his Uncle because his mother passed away and his dad has been dead for a number of years. His Uncle is very comforting and supportive. Danny is enrolled in school and doing well. A few months go by and there is this one door in the house that is never opened, the basement door. Danny asked his Uncle about it and was always told, curiosity killed the cat. Well, that made Danny even more curious about what was behind the door. Do you know what happened next? While his Uncle was at work, Danny finds his way into the basement and what he finds there is not at all what he expected.

description

From this point on my heart was pretty much beating out of my chest. You know that feeling when you’re a kid and you’re doing something that you know you’re not supposed to be doing. Then someone walks in and bust you… ya. That feeling.

description

This is where the fucked up shit happens. Oh my word! Humiliation, mutilation, mindfuckery, abuse and sexual violence. Let me tell you about the “snuff”. Yes, there is a section in here where a film is shown and described in detail. This short story is not for the faint of heart. The author gives a great and very true warning.

description

Then… that ending. I expected death and destruction and I got something completely different.

I did have some issues with this though. This was banned because Danny is a minor and there is a couple brief moments of cringe worthy incest. Because Danny didn’t put up a fight at all, it seemed that he was trying to justify everything that was going on by saying that he fears his Uncle. I’m not really sure about that. But on the flip side, if I had walked into what Danny did, maybe I would be shocked and scared too. Also, I think this story was translated to English because there are a lot of grammar errors.

Overall, I enjoyed it. It is totally fucked up and will probably give me a bad dream or two.

Review

WOW! I feel like I could murder some people right about now. I really like this. 🙂
description

This is pretty fucked up and so very good. It also makes me think twice about some of the books I read. LOL! So…. is your browsing history on your computer really just research for writing? 😉 Or are they resources for true stories?

Anyway, this book starts off with one of the hottest sex scenes I have ever read. Bravo! It was hard, hot and dirty and I loved it. Then we get a little bit deeper into Nathans head and see a glimpse of the darkness that is just below the surface. Then all of the sudden….. (sorry, can’t reveal secrets here)

description

So, Nathan hops in his car and heads to one of his secluded and peaceful homes. When he arrives, he finds there are a bunch of annoying people hanging out at his neighbors house. There is one girl that catches his eye and that is Adrianna. She is a huge fan of Nathan’s books and invites him to join them for dinner. Sure why not…

“This would be my first time wanting to slaughter a reader, but then again, I can pretend she’s one of those cranky ass reviewers that think they are literary gods.”

While there, Nathan meets Mandy, Bo and Cory. Typical, snotty college brats. You know the type… the ones that are first to die in a horror movie because they went and had sex in the woods and they never return. They question Nathan about the controversial content of his books.

description

Don’t poke the bear kids… you just might get bitten. Anyway, Nathan has things he needs to do and things he needs to bury. While he is taking care of business, he stumbles across a scene between Mandy and Bo…. in the woods. Nathan is immediately intrigued by Mandy and the scene unfolding before him. Maybe she isn’t as innocent as she pretends.

“I try to keep the beast tamed, but self-control is no longer on my side.”

description

“Eventually nightmares become reality, and I am the one that harnessed them. I embrace them to create the monster I am today.”

This is pretty much where the darkness really comes to light. It’s like a Tender date gone terribly wrong and now you’re stuck with the Boogeyman.

“I’m going to enjoy everything that you’re about to hate.”

description

“There is nothing that can bring me back from Lucifer’s playground.”

Why 4 stars? Meh, I had little issues with some things. Like some wrong words in sentences, not a lot, but enough to notice. Spelled correctly, but missed by spell check (final vs Finally). Also, if this many people have gone missing… there are a lot of careless mistakes being made. Seriously… don’t shit where you eat. It’s too close to home. Also, how is it that Nathan can find the g-spot every single time on different women. He must have some serious skills.

Overall, I really liked it. It was shocking, different and cringe worthy and times it made me want to vomit. Exactly what I needed at the moment. I’m warning you though, there is extreme violence and possible triggers for some people. If you’re a fan of horror than you will love this. I cant wait to read more from these authors.

He thought it was the perfect crime. When Jack—a self-professed “bluebeard” and murderer of women—finally disposed of his obscenely rich wife, he thought he’d get away with it. He thought she would be just like all the others.

But he was wrong. Dead wrong.

Because unbeknownst to Jack, the specter of his now-deceased wife has risen from her unmarked grave: blood-spattered, brutalized, and ready for revenge. But that’s not all she’s after. This phantom isn’t just out for vengeance. She also hungers for a little… erotic stimulation. Will Jack survive the experience?

Written in the style of a nineteenth-century gothic novel, Necromantic Encounter is guaranteed to titillate and terrify in equal measure!

This 6,400+ word story contains adult material that may not be suitable for all audiences. Recommended only for the strong of heart.

Review

Well.

I have to say it IS only for the strong of heart. This is a story which starts off terribly Victorian. The prose is Victorian. The way the narrator speaks is Victorian. I swear I could have been reading a book by one of the Bronte sisters. In the beginning. And then it takes a somewhat abrupt left turn, kind of like this:

Our protagonist is a self-professed “Bluebeard”. He’s killed his wives before, but he swears THIS time he won’t! Reminds me of a certain someone from popular fiction.

So, then of course his independent wife annoys him, and well, he just has to take care of her. This is where the book took the left turn. It’s like… this is the Tell-Tale heart if Poe wrote erotica. This is horror, pure and simple, mixed in with eroticism in a way that made me sit up and take notice. This is the true essence of horrorotica. You’re not supposed to be turned on by it, but you are. My reaction reading it was like this:

I wasn’t sure what kind of face to make! I was in turns horrified and electrified. The book promises thrills and chills, and it delivers. Holy. God. It delivers. I got goosebumps while reading it, and I was glued to each electronic page. I couldn’t tear my eyes away. It didn’t quite frighten me… but it was close enough. It wasn’t just the horror aspect, but the attraction to the macabre which hit really close to home. I’m a horror fan, and I often take delight in other things people find gruesome and ghastly, so for me, this was like… an ultimate piece of writing. A… a… weird sort of self-reflection where I looked at the things I like and went, “Yeah… maybe this isn’t quite normal. Or healthy.” The obsession written here is feverish. I cannot stress enough that you leave feeling that you shouldn’t have been aroused, but the only other option was to be scared.

Sakura writes it very much like it needed to be: as a Victorian novel gone horribly wrong. I had just finished reading Kanye West–Reanimator in which the author writes Kanye West into a Lovecraft story, written in the Lovecraftian style, which made me reread some Lovecraft. This is a book that can be shelved right next to Lovecraft without missing a beat. The style is impeccable. The prose is clean (there was one error that I found, but I was so into it I skipped right past it and now I’ve forgotten where it was!). The story is ghoulish and gruesome, but incredibly sexy at the same time. It’s a work of art. It’s the meshing of two things that should not be mixed to make a incredibly beautiful piece of art.

Yes.

Art. This is art. It takes skill to write something like this, a skill which I admit I’m jealous of. Actually jealous. If you’re into horror, you’ll love it. If you’re into erotica, you’ll… find parts of this uncomfortably arousing. If you are into literature, you’ll find it a fascinating read. The only complaint I have about this book is the cover. It just doesn’t do it justice. I give it 10 out of 10 Bluebeards.

All Gracie wanted was to fulfill her passionate desire for her boss, Kevin. But when she finally makes her move she finds herself drawn into a story beyond her understanding. It’s a story of fear, blood and lust that might set fire to the world.

Review

warning

“Word of warning. Some of these characters express ideas and use words that may make you uncomfortable.”

NBS Teaser

Seriously, proceed with caution. For those of you with heart conditions, a squeamish stomach, a strong aversion to blood and guts, dread the evil side of demonic paranormal, refuse to tolerate the idea of sexual taboo or feel it’s their mission in life to rid the world of literature that is not all unicorns and rainbows, then this book is not meant for your eyes or mind. Stop reading here!

For those of you who are willing to dip your toe into the dark side and skirt the edge of taboo, who don’t mind blood and guts and are okay with being grossed out and possibly turned on at the same time, then this book may be for you.

For those of you who are willing to dive in head first into the naughty, dirty, closet masturbation, bloody, horror erotica-tastic, with a lick of taboo while backstroking through a vat of evil and cum, and don’t mind the dark shadows in the corners, then this book is DEFINITELY for you.

cheese and wonder

Really I think my warning pretty much sums it up. But if you still want more… then let me try to fill you in without giving anything away.

Eighteen year old Gracie babysits for Kevin and Liz. Gracie seems like any normal girl her age on the outside but she has a dark and twisted side to her, especially after she meets Katie. Gracie has the hots for Kevin and will do whatever it takes to fulfill her lust for him. Gracie is only concerned about herself and what she wants.

bloodbath makeout2

Sex, blood, cum, incest and demons oh my! From the very beginning I was hooked. This is a well paced short story filled with cringing moments that makes me want to read with my eyes shut. This story is NOT for everyone. Again, read my warning. This is not my first horror and this is not my first erotica, however this is my first horror erotica. I wasn’t really sure what to expect and it turns out that I’m a twisted little fucker because I loved it!

bloodbath makeout3

There are a couple moments in here where it felt “porn” like to me. For example… “Shoot your cum on my face!” I shouted. “I want to feel your spunk running all over me!” Now, there is nothing wrong with porn and I do enjoy watching my fair share, but I just don’t see an 18 year old girl begging for this. Then on the flip side, she is demented, so it’s entirely possible.

Overall, I loved it! It was well written, the characters are believable and the story is fascinating. I don’t mind the taboo incest side of it. There is a copious amount of blood and I have read things in the past where the blood play was too much for me. However, this one I think is the bloodiest I’ve ever read and I didn’t have an issue. Yes, I did gag a couple of times, but I was ok with it. I hope there is a sequel to Grace and Blood and I can’t wait to read more from this author. I’m about to fangirl out all over Eric Keys.

Fifteen-year-old Hillary Greyson awakens from a horrific nightmare only to discover that she faces an even grimmer reality. Naked on a bed in an unfamiliar, empty room, she is unable to move her limbs. Worse, she cannot remember who she is. Panic-stricken, Hillary desperately searches her mind for answers, but finds nothing more than fear and confusion.

A man enters the room—a stranger to Hillary. He introduces himself as Dr. Morrison. Seemingly benign, he informs Hillary that she is there for her own good…that she is under his care until she regains her memory. Hillary cannot remember anything, but her instincts warn her not to trust this man who claims to be her doctor. She can only hope that someone will come looking for her…that someone will find her before it is too late.

Several weeks later, Hillary’s situation has grown even more dismal. Still unclothed, coarse ropes bind her limbs to the bed while she is fed intravenously. Two new strangers have entered her life—Monica, Dr. Morrison’s wife, and Dr. Bentley, who claims to be her psychiatrist. Yet they are more evasive than forthcoming. Her questions remain unanswered. She is trapped, with no hope of escaping…left to piece together the mystery of her miserable existence.

Abused and neglected, Hillary knows that with each passing day, her chance of survival diminishes. She spends her long days wasting away, growing depressed…growing angry. When all hope seems lost, a cruel twist of fate provides the opportunity she has been waiting for.

With renewed hope and an unrelenting will to survive, Hillary does whatever it takes to escape. She yearns for her freedom more than anything in the world.

Hillary just wants to go home….

What the fuuucccckkkk did I just read!?!?!?

I’m still not sure how I want to rate this book, so I’ve listed a few different rating stars below. This is a book that I normally wouldn’t read but I was craving something different and I got exactly that. I read the warning and still wanted to read it. I read the blurb and was interested and intrigued.

Writing ~ 4 Creative Stars
Storyline ~ 5 Creeptastic Stars
Shock Factor ~ 5 Make me want to read with my eyes closed Stars
My personal overall rating ~ 3.5 Stars

Please don’t be detoured by my rating. This was a very well written book with a fantastic storyline. My rating is based on content and my personal comfort level. This book is not for everyone and I thought about stopping 3 or 4 times but I wanted to see this through. I’m happy that I did but my journey was a horrific trip through the mind of a psychopath. Think about a cross between Silence of the Lambs, Freeway I and II, Jeffrey Dahmer, American Psycho and Twilight Zone all wrapped in one little scary book. This was a mind fuck like I’ve never experienced.

Fifteen year old Hillary Greyson wakes up form a nightmare only to realize that she really is in a nightmare. She is alone, naked and strapped to a bed. She has no memory of who she is, how she got to be where she’s at and has completely lost her memory. She soon discovers that she’s at the mercy of Dr. Morrison, Monica and Dr. Bentley. Are they real doctors? Are these people really here to help Hillary? Or are these people psychotic and bent on torturing a teenage girl? How long will her nightmare last?

At 4% in I was already pretty grossed out and woke my husband up in the middle of the night say “Oh my GOD! What the FUCK!!!

At 12% the POV switched so much I was thoroughly confused as to who I was reading.

At 15% I was begging for no pedophilia. And Monica has some seriously fucked up morals. I’m paraphrasing here but it was pretty much like this; “Oh, it’s totally fine to use a child for unethical science experiments but I draw the line inappropriate touching.” Really?

“He was conflicted between his intense yearning to touch her and his duties as a professional doctor… not to mention his marital vows.”

gross

At about 50% in shit really starts happening. I thought I had a hard time at the beginning… well Im about to get a lollipop triple dipped in psycho.

At 71% is where I almost threw in the towel. I had to take breaks and almost put it down for good. This is just so fucked up and twisted and downright evil.

Stuff happens that makes me want to run screaming down the street! NOOOOOOOO!!!!! You can’t!!! STOP!!!! PLEASE STOP!!!!!

Overall, it was a great book. It took me to a place I’ve never gone before and I’m not sure I can go again. I need a therapist a priest a shower and a Disney movie STAT! I wanted to read with my eyes closed, it made me cringe and loose my appetite. Only a great author can pull this much emotion out of me. So bravo Angel Gelique! Bravo! At this point I don’t think I can finish the series. I may come back to it later down the road but for now I have to put my melted brain back together.

Thank you to JaHy and Barbara for the encouragement and support to keep going.

Im adding this little warning for the faint of heart. http://i.imgur.com/46w3bpk.gif

Author Bio

I am an attorney, wife and mother from Long Island, New York. I received my undergraduate degree (BA) in biology from Skidmore College and my Juris Doctor (JD) from Brooklyn Law School.

I’ve always been passionate about reading and writing. It has been my life-long dream to write a novel. I finally stopped making excuses and got down to business. Writing a few paragraphs a day, I finally completed my first novel, “Mother,” in August 2012. For the past year, I’ve challenged myself by writing gory, disturbing horror novels. I am thrilled to announce that my horror trilogy, the Hillary series is now complete. Though I enjoyed writing about Hillary, I have to admit that at times it was murder! 🙂

I’m looking forward to my next writing project, which will be much milder!

I welcome feedback, comments and suggestions from readers.
