Nothing is as it used to be for the Black Dagger Brotherhood. After avoiding war with the Shadows, alliances have shifted and lines have been drawn. The slayers of the Lessening Society are stronger than ever, preying on human weakness to acquire more money, more weapons, more power. But as the Brotherhood readies for an all-out attack on them, one of their own fights a battle within himself…

For Rhage, the Brother with the biggest appetites, but also the biggest heart, life was supposed to be perfect—or at the very least, perfectly enjoyable. Mary, his beloved shellan, is by his side and his King and his brothers are thriving. But Rhage can’t understand—or control—the panic and insecurity that plague him…

And that terrifies him—as well as distances him from his mate. After suffering mortal injury in battle, Rhage must reassess his priorities—and the answer, when it comes to him, rocks his world…and Mary’s. But Mary is on a journey of her own, one that will either bring them closer together or cause a split that neither will recover from…

To all of the paranormal romance authors out there:

Whatever J.R Ward is doing, take notes, because this is how to get it done. I’m gonna rant here for just a minute. This genre is dying a slow death for me personally. I have read a lot of authors in this genre and the few I liked have disappointed me in the last couple of years. I’m not gonna mention names because I still believe these authors are good but just don’t work for me. Writing about characters nobody gives a shit about or losing their heat levels. So when I’m asked to suggest a paranormal author, I always go straight to Ward. Other than Phury’s book, she’s never disappointed me. Rant over.

Rhage and Mary! I love them soooo much! My heart is so damn full right now. I can hardly stand it! I just wanna rub my face in this book. I know there are people out there that don’t like Ward writing multiple books about her characters but they need to get over it. I also know that people have left the series after The Shadows, nut up or don’t read. The choice is yours. Sorry, still ranting.

Mary and Rhage have ben having problems connecting lately. Not in the physical sense but more in the emotional sense. Mary has been putting in a lot of hours at the abused women center for vampires. At the end of the previous book, a female vampire was at the center with her baby and daughter. The mother and baby died leaving the daughter an orphan. Mary forms a tentative bond with the girl being her counselor. This stirs up a lot of memories for Mary. Her mom’s death, her cancer and her inability to bear children. She had accepted all of this but with the little girl, Bitty’s loss, all that she has lost comes rushing to the surface. Rhage has an incident with L.W. and now he’s confused and ashamed of his feelings about wanting a family. Watching them work through this was as sweet as it was gut wrenching.

Vishous had a lot of page time and I can only guess he will also get a second book.

You get little sprinkles of Wrath, Beth, Zsadist, Manny, Jane, Payne, Tohr, Autumn, John Matthew, Qhuinn, Blay, Butch and Marissa.

Xcor was in there too-no spoilers here.

Layla was busy still being pregnant but with drama.

Assail. He’s helping Wrath with something in this book. Still not a fan but I didn’t hate him.

I loved the book. Every damned part of it.

Paradise, blooded daughter of the king’s First Advisor, is ready to break free from the restrictive life of an aristocratic female. Her strategy? Join the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s training center program and learn to fight for herself, think for herself…be herself. It’s a good plan, until everything goes wrong. The schooling is unfathomably difficult, the other recruits feel more like enemies than allies, and it’s very clear that the Brother in charge, Butch O’Neal, a.k.a. the Dhestroyer, is having serious problems in his own life.

And that’s before she falls in love with a fellow classmate. Craeg, a common civilian, is nothing her father would ever want for her, but everything she could ask for in a male. As an act of violence threatens to tear apart the entire program, and the erotic pull between them grows irresistible, Paradise is tested in ways she never anticipated—and left wondering whether she’s strong enough to claim her own power…on the field, and off.

I have always loved J.R Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Well, okay not Phury’s book but all of the other ones. I even loved The Shadows when most reviewers were trashing it. When I heard about a spin-off series, I was super excited. New characters? Catching up with old ones? Count me in!

I enjoyed everything about this book. I loved the training segments, the characters, the love scenes, the mystery and the pacing. It felt like the BDB in the beginning. I got sucked in totally. I couldn’t wait to get time to read. I can’t wait for what’s up next!

If you have gotten tired of the BDB, this takes you back to how you felt in the beginning of the series and makes you remember what you fell in love with it for in the first place.

An immortal assassin is caught between desire and duty…

A foundling raised in a world of humans

Growing up, orphaned Josephine didn’t know who or what she was—just that she was “bad,” an outcast with strange powers. Her baby brother Thaddeus was as perfect as she was flawed; protecting him became her entire life. The day he was taken away began Jo’s transition from angry girl… to would-be superhero… to enchanting, ruthless villain.

A lethally sensual enforcer on a mission

A threat to the Møriør has brought archer Rune the Baneblood to the mortal realm to slay the oldest living Valkyrie. Whether by bow or in bed, he never fails to eliminate his target. Yet before he can strike, he encounters a vampiric creature whose beauty conceals a black heart. With one bite, she pierces him with aching pleasure, taking his forbidden blood – and jeopardizing the secrets of his brethren.

A boundless passion that will lead to sweet ruin…

Could this exquisite female be a spy sent by the very Valkyrie he hunts? Rune knows he must not trust Josephine, yet he’s unable to turn her away. Despite his millennia of sexual conquests, he can’t ignore the unfamiliar longing she arouses deep within him. When Jo betrays the identity of the one man she will die to protect, she and Rune become locked in a treacherous battle of wills that pits ultimate loyalty against unbridled lust.

If you follow my reviews, you know I have a separate rating system for Cole. She always starts with a five star review. 1 star because it’s Kresley Cole, 1 star because I love the series, 1 star because she makes me belly laugh with her humor, 1 star because she’s a genius with her story telling and 1 star for hot sex scenes.

Rune is a dark fae. This means while he’s very powerful, he is also poison. He can’t kiss anyone and they can’t take his blood. The demon in him also means that while he can have sex, he can’t ejaculate until he finds his mate. Rune is a member of a group of all powerful beings from different Lore species that seem like the governing body of the Lore. Kinda of peace keepers but not really. He uses sex with Nymphs of all kinds to gain whatever info is needed for whatever his current mission is.

Josephine is a bit of a mystery. She’s a half female vampire/half phantom. She is young and has had no one to teach her the ways of what she should do. She was orphaned with her baby brother and they lived on the street until a kindly librarian kind of took care of them. Josephine loves her baby brother with everything she is. She even loves him enough to let him go after her untimely “death”.

She and Rune stumble upon one another and sparks fly. Rune is convinced because of his mixed species he will never have a mate. Josephine wants nothing more than a family and to be loved. These were good characters but I never fully connected with them as a couple. Cole’s last couple books have thrown characters that I either didn’t know or didn’t care about at me. I again realize that Cole is building her story arc here but I still don’t like it. I don’t know whether it’s because of the length of the series or my starting to fall out of love with paranormal romance that I feel this way. I have loved her characters for so long but her newest ones have left me wanting. I know that if she gives us Nix or Furie’s stories, the series will probably end but I want them anyway!

I got a little of Val Hall and Nix but not enough of the other Valkyries. I so badly want to live in Val Hall! So, in closing, 1 star for Cole, 1 star for her humor, 1 star for my love of the series and a half a star for the sex. I had to wait too long for it and despite my liking the characters, I don’t care about them. Give us what we want. If you can’t give us Nix or Furie, how about more Macrieve boys or the Alpha of werewolves from this story. Nobody does wolf shifters like Cole.

A Valkyrie discovers more than love when she meets a dangerous, hunky biker!

Raven is haunted by the passionate, one-night stand she had with Magnus. He was dangerous and handsome, an outlaw biker that swept Raven off her feet. She knows Magnus is so wrong for her, but she can’t keep the bad boy out of her thoughts.

When Magnus tracks her down, Raven has to make a choice? Can she love the dangerous biker, or should she listen to her fears and find a safer guy? Her heart yearns for Magnus and the passion of his words.

But Raven’s choice will change both her and Magnus’s life. She is a Valkyrie, and her love will unleash the wolf slumbering inside of Magnus. When a frost troll attacks Raven, and she is plunged into the snowy wastelands of Utgard, she will learn if she made the right choice.

Is Magnus too dangerous to love? Or has Raven doomed herself and Magnus to a snowy fate?

Those who know me (and know my RL name for reviewing as well!) know I do NOT give out five stars lightly. Matter of fact, it’s very, very rare as even when I rate a book 9 out of 10 something or anothers, I round down to 4 stars on Amazon or Goodreads. Those who also read my blog know that I’ve reviewed a couple of Renee’s other books, and while for the most part I think they are passable (with some great ideas!), I have not rated them fantastically.

That is going to change. This really is a five star book. I waffled for a long time on if it would be four or five, but my deciding factor was, “Am I going to read it again?” and when the answer was, “Yes, when the second book comes out, I will” I knew it was five stars.

All that being said, I want to say that I have enjoyed watching Renee’s writing improve by leaps and bounds. She’s really come a long way with experience, and I think it’s fantastic. Not only that, when the next book in this series comes out, I’ll be right there with my grabby hands clutching at it. AND it’s made me want to go back and finished her Passion Moon series. I could drop mic there and walk away, but that’s not why we’re at the Naughty Book Snitch site, is it? Of course not!

The plot is not necessarily straight forward, but it is pretty linear… but that’s just fine because it sets up the whole rest of the series like a good first book should do. In the prologue, Raven met and had a torrid affair with Magnus, then left the next day. Magnus finds her barrista nametag and tracks her down to Seattle after having a fight with another biker (Talon) for popping him in the face during the prologue protecting Raven. Raven, in the meanwhile, is kicking herself for leaving without leaving any info, and girls? Haven’t we all done that before?

Now, while Raven is kicking herself, and trying to convince herself that no, it didn’t mean anything, her regulars (which cracked me up, two thumbs up for good secondary characters! Even if I recognized Owen right away…) advise her on making her “Choice”, and you might as well capitalize it. That was the one thing that made me waffle for so long on giving it five stars right away. The “Choice” is presented to us indicating that Raven will only ever have one love… EVER! I know it’s romance, but… no. Now, it’s actually for OTHER reasons not the romance ones why it’s important (nope, not spoiling anything!), but at this point Raven doesn’t know about any paranormal stuff, so it’s presented as “Yeah, you only get to pick ONE BOYFRIEND EVER so pick good.”

Magnus comes and copies a poem for her, which was sort of an ‘awwww’ moment (even though it was copied, and not an original, but now I’m just getting picky!), and she agrees to go out with him. They go out… and there’s where I stop the summation. Why? INTERESTING STUFF HAPPENS! Not just sex–although that was good and hot, yummy showers–BUT REALLY FUCKING COOL SHIT!

Kind of like that, except with snow. And fire. And… other things!

So, how was the romance? The romance, like the characters, were very satisfying. Now, usually I bang on “Ugh, God, they’ve known each other for what, two minutes?!” but the book itself is drawn out long enough that it feels right, and that’s really important in romance. Renee hit all the beats. On top of that, it’s made clear that it’s an infatuation in the beginning, but afterwards they start facing trials together… which instantly bonds people. Just ask soldiers how close they are to their buddies. I think in this case? There’s a reason for the immediate bond, and it’s done very… VERY well. Now, whether that will hold up to scrutiny is another thing, but that’s for the future!

What hooked me was the Norse mythology. For those who know their stuff, it’s accurate. Bent, of course, for fantasy and the like but the basis of it? All very well done. I can tell the author did her research, and I appreciate it! There’s not much sex in it, but that’s quite alright. The story doesn’t need it. When it comes into the story though, it’s well done and steamy. I give this paranormal romance 10 out of 10 flaming swords.

PS: We want more of this guy. Yes, we do. Because yeah, the sex between Magnus and Raven was hot? But the talking scene between Raven and Loki was on fire.

Kirstin has never been out of her den before, but now one of her pack is seriously injured—he may even be dying. Desperate to help, she races straight to Middle March, the borderland between Scotland and England, and falls right into a dangerous trap.

As the new laird of his clan, Donal MacFalon has made it clear that he, unlike his brother before him, will honor the wolf pact, an agreement their father made with England’s King Henry VII to protect Scotland’s wolf shifters, the wulvers, who most believe to be only the stuff of legend.

Wulvers, though, are very real. Kirstin knows. She’s one of them.

When Donal MacFalon turns those steel blue-grey eyes her way, she realizes she’s facing something far more dangerous in this man than any trap.

This man, already promised to another, has a power over her no man or wulver has ever had before. When he opens his castle and his heart to her, she finds herself willing to risk not only her own heart, but everything she’s ever known, just to be with him.

Kirstin will find herself caught-—between the man she loves and his intended bride, between her pack and a human world frightened of her kind, between nations whose hatred runs deep.

Kirstin will be forced to make choices no woman, or wulver, should ever have to make. All for one man, whose love goes beyond borders, nations, or legends, whose heart beats only for her.

What a fabulous, suspenseful, erotic, romantic and satisfying read. This is the second book in the Highland Wolf Pact series but I think it could also be as a standalone. This is Donal and Kristin’s story. Kirstin is a wulver and healer and Donal is now the Laird of the MacFalon Clan. Things escalate pretty quickly right from the beginning. But when a wulver scents their mate, it’s pretty hard to ignore.

What I really loved about this story is that Donal and Kirstin are upfront about their feelings and throughout the entire book. You don’t have this push and pull, back and forth with them. Nope. They do work on being together and talk about it. But as we all know, not all romance is without its problems. There is turmoil, angst and suspense and Donal and Kirstin have obstacles that they must work through.

Also, in this book we get A LOT of Raife and Sibyl which makes me super happy. For me the first book was awesome and unforgettable. So Raife and Sibyl are going through some tough times and I swear I can physically feel Sibyl’s heartache.

So about the fornicating between Donal and Kirstin… DUH! Selena Kitt wrote this book so you know its some sweet, dirty, sexy, balls dipped in awesome sauce kind of hot! I think I might put this in every review I’ve done about a Selena Kitt book and Im going to say it again… there is nothing this woman can’t write. She is amazing and I would love to get inside her mind and hang out with all the people that live in there.

Overall, this was an amazing story. Donal and Kirstin are solid and well developed characters, the writing is superb, the storyline is flawless and the sex is filthy and scorching. My only complaint is that it was difficult for me to get into it at the beginning. But the rest of it was glorious and I loved it. There is a part in here that may bother some people, but I thought it was awesome. Kristin and Donal are having sex right before Kristin is shifting. So there is a tiny part where she is partially shifted. Its written very well, so I don’t think most people will have an issue with it. I really can’t wait to read more about the prophecy and the red wulver. Bring on the next book!

It’s a battle that both will win if they can survive the deadly forces, both friend and foe, that surround them.

Warning: This novel is intended for a mature audience. You will find kick-ass females, explicit sex, voyeurism and alpha males with bad language.

I feel that I should warn new readers who’ve not met any of the Guardians yet. When you sit down to read any of the Guardians of the Realms books there may be a few side effects, which could include but not limited to…

Spontaneous humping

Heavy breathing

And sudden orgasms

If you’ve experienced any of these symptoms, then you may want to stay away from public areas. Contact your spouse/boyfriend/partner and have them assist you in releasing some… ahem… tension. Vibrators and hands are also good alternatives. I’ve heard that some Doctors are saying that Setta Jay’s books keep your vagina healthy. 😉

Now, the question here is… are YOU ready for the Guardians?

The Shifter Inside Has Caused Him Unimaginable Pain

Jonathan has tried to deny his panther side. He’s completely isolated himself inside of his billionaire company, and intentionally has no friends. Because his family was taken from him.

Beth is a beautiful, happy, curvy woman that’s had her share of normal dating mishaps. But falling for a panther shifter might take her dating history to a new level of potential disaster.

They are brought together through an act of violence that staggers them both. She needs him, and he needs to save her. That one moment begins a series of events that pushes them both to the brink.

Can a reclusive billionaire accept his fierce desire to protect this lovely woman from harm, even if protecting her means accepting his life as a shifter? And if he does, will she be able to accept every part of him?

This is a 15,000+ word novella. It is a STANDALONE with NO CLIFFHANGER.

*This book was originally published in April 2015 under a pen name, Terra Wolf. It has now been re-published with the real author name, Amanda Jones. The book has not changed.

Mmmm! I do love shifter romance. This was a fantastic start to what I imagine will be a great series. The beginning of this book was my favorite. I was hooked from the very first sentence.

“I smelled her fear before I heard her scream.”

Jonathan King is a loner billionaire who is trying to repress his panther side. However, his panther needs to run and the two sides of Jonathan have come to an understanding by letting his panther out at night.

Beth Winters is a music teacher whose had a series of bad dates. Just when she’s given up on the dating scene, one walk home changes her fate.

“It’s funny how life sometimes has a way of leading you down the path you really need without you even noticing it beforehand.”

When Jonathan and Beth meet for the first time, they are both irresistibly drawn to each other. After their first meeting, Jonathan can’t stay away from Beth.

“My dick was pushing in my pants now and I was having an internal dialogue with my panther, trying to get him to back down.”

Well, I can’t really say too much more without giving anything away. I do need to comment on a scene between Jonathan and Beth that was so hot and that was when Jonathan was helping Beth with her clothes. It was seriously hot, but then… I had to giggle a little because there was a line in there that made me laugh, but I don’t think it was meant to. Of course I knew what was meant by it, but it just struck me a little funny.

“I couldn’t look at her pussy or I would combust and all of my good intentions would fly away. She stepped out of them and the smell of her sex hit me like a punch to the gut.”

The only part of this book that I didn’t care for was that it felt rushed towards the end. It started out with a bang and then quickly ended. The story was fine, just rushed.

Overall it was a really good read and I would recommend it to anyone who likes paranormal shifter romance. The sex is really good and Jonathan and Beth are great together. Since this is an insta-love story, I would like to read more about Jonathan and Beth’s relationship. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

REVIEW OF BOOK #1 The Pixie’s Passion

Sequel to the bestselling, paranormal romance The Pixie’s Passion!

And Winter’s emissary plays for keeps.

Will the Pixie fall into Corrigan’s trap? Or will she be saved by her Mortal Champion?

Winter’s Kiss is a 34,000 word supernatural, erotic, romance thriller full of heart-pounding passion, kinky sex, and heart-stopping excitement. This story is full of mature themes that are not for the faint at heart.

Ohhhh! Another kick ass book from Reed James! This is such a fantastic series and I swear each book is getting better and better. I’m just so excited that I don’t know where to start. This is packed full of action and nail biting moments, which I won’t go into because you’ll have to buy the book to find out. There were some really sweet moments and some really great hot sex moments too. This one hit on all the right spots for me and was pure perfection.

fuck yes

We sort of start out with Gunnar’s birthday and he gets a special hot surprise from Maeve. Then later Maeve is doing her part to save some of the people that Corrigan has enchanted (or whatever you call it). I know I don’t have to gush about the kinky fuckery because this is a Reed James novel we’re talking about… so you already know it’s off the charts hott!

“Gunner grinned. He loved eating pussy. Any guy could stick his cock into a woman and fuck her, but to spread her lips open and make her cream with tongue, lips and fingers was an art form.”

Corrigan is a bitch and I want to cut her. She is getting stronger and making familiars to do her dirty work. Ohhh, that library study scene just drives me crazy!! I cant wait to see her get what’s coming to her.

Overall, this was my favorite one in the series so far. Fantastic story, nail biting moments, a villainess that makes me want to jump in the book and kick her ass! A fantastic hero and heroin that keep me cheering in their corner. Then.. let’s not forget about the sex. Sweet lovin’ fuckery. Gotta love Maeve and her sexcapades. There is some F/F and ménage deliciousness. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves supernatural erotica. It just keeps getting better and better.

“I love writing about women who want to be a little (or a lot) naughty, people expressing their love for each other as physically and kinkily as possible, and women loving other women. Whether it’s a virgin experiencing her/his first time or a long-term couple exploring the bounds of their relationships, it will be a hot, erotic story!”

Welcome to the Realm
In the Beginning, there were Vampire…

Man’s fall from grace sparked the birth of the Dark creatures from the
underworld. To counter the explicit threat to mankind, divinely-created
immortals were brought forth. The Witch encompassed seven Castes of power;
their magic was most effective against the nefarious agenda pursued by the evil
The war has raged since the beginning of human history. Ancients of Light is
the series detailing the stories of the immortals that will fulfill an arcane
prophecy and bring about the conclusion of the supernatural conflict.

Heather lives in Indiana with her husband, D.A. and their twins, Thomas and Alexandra. Professionally she has spent her career working in the area of Intellectual Property law.

Reading has been a passion of hers since she was young. The romantic styles of Judith McNaught and Julie Garwood are her inspiration. Her fascination with the paranormal began to form at the young age of six, watching late-night ghost and vampire movies with her Grandpa. Unfortunately, as a result, she also remains afraid of the dark to this day.

Combining her love of epic romances and the supernatural was a natural progression for her imagination. When the idea for the Ancient of Light series began, it was an abstract storyline rambling around in her head to help kill a few miles on the treadmill. As the stories and plotlines continued to grow, it finally became necessary to put the words to paper and build the characters that had been living in the Realm in her head for months.

The series is a testament to many miles on the treadmill and lots of characters that insist on having their stories told.

Review~Dark Skye by Kresley Cole

Title: Dark Skye
Series: Immortals After Dark #14
Author: Kresley Cole
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Pages: 432
Heat Level: 2 out of 4 flames
Overall Star Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

As a boy, Thronos, prince of Skye Hall, loved Lanthe, a mischievous Sorceri girl who made him question everything about his Vrekener clan. But when the two got caught in the middle of their families’ war, tragedy struck, leaving Thronos and Lanthe bitter enemies. Though centuries have passed, nothing can cool his seething need for the beautiful enchantress who scarred his body—and left an even deeper impression on his soul.

Lanthe, a once-formidable sorceress struggling to reclaim her gifts, searches for love and acceptance with all the wrong immortal suitors. But she’s never forgotten Thronos, the magnificent silver-eyed boy who protected her until she was ripped from the shelter of his arms. One harrowing night changed everything between them. Now he’s a notorious warlord with a blood vendetta against Lanthe, hunting her relentlessly.

With their families locked in conflict and battles raging all around them, will Thronos and Lanthe succumb to the brutal chaos that threatens everything they cherish? Or will the fragile bond they formed so long ago spark a passion strong enough to withstand even the darkest doubts?

In my humble opinion, Kresley Cole is a literary genius. Her stories suck you in and you can’t wait to watch it all unfold. Not to mention, her humor is hysterical. Maybe a little over the top for some but hilarious none the less.

Thronos is a winged creature who fell in love with his mate as a young boy. He’s also the Prince of his people. He’s very family oriented and more than a little prudish. In fact, he’s a virgin because his people can’t climax during sex with anyone but their mate. This sacrifice wasn’t a big deal to him because, as I said before, he had already found his mate. But there’s a couple of catches here: his mate is not of his own people, she’s a Sorceri (his peoples’ greatest enemy), her family is responsible for his father’s death, oh and she almost killed him in a grief filled rage.

Melanthe, the Sorceri in question, has never forgotten Thronos. Not only because she fell in love with him centuries ago, or because of the blood feud between their families but because he’s hunted her relentlessly through the centuries. She has had relationships with men that have left her emotionally and mystically scarred to the point she has trust issues. She’s also very family oriented.

When this novel starts, we are back at the immortal prison and they both have escaped their captors. Thronos then proceeds to capture Melanthe with the intent to take her to his realm and hold her there not only as his mate but as his captive. That’s where I’m gonna leave you to finish this read for yourself.

When I read a Kresley Cole book and think of rating it, the following is my system: 1 star because it’s Kresley Cole, 1 star because it’s this series that I adore, 1 star because Cole is a genius, 1 star for the humor and 1 star for the sex. So, you see, her books start out at a five star read for me. This book, 1 star for Cole, one for the series, one for the humor and one for her genius. The sex was mediocre, minus one star. My biggest complaint was the fact that even though I remembered the names of the characters from previous books, I couldn’t remember them. They were bit players thrown in. I know that there is a story arc here as we gear up for the Ascension but still. And why wasn’t there more Valkyries? We did get some Nix, thank you Jesus, but I want to read about Vall Hall. I did enjoy seeing Furie but come on Lothaire and Nix, get your shit together and rescue Furie.
